Well, you guys inspired me. I have been needing to build a new portable bench for awhile now and just haven't gotten around to it, but after reading this thread yesterday it gave me some ideas and got me started.
It will be the three legged pipe leg style, but for left or right handed shooters. It will also have some scallops on the edge to lean rifles against, and a lip around part of the top to keep brass and stuff from rolling off. I cut the wedge blocks to go under the legs at work yesterday on the band saw with a taper cutting jig, used some oak from a pallet. I cut the top last night from a left over piece of 3/4" birch plywood, got the edges all smoothed down and radiused with the belt sander. Gonna go cut my pieces for the lips here in a few minutes, and will call the lumber yard and have them cut and thread my pipe legs for me.
