Shooting Glasses - which ones?

Which shooting glasses do you wear?

I am looking at several different styles of Oakleys mainly because they exceed ANSI standards for breakage.

One thing that is confusing me is which color to get? I definitely HATE the older yellow lenses, as they are WAY too tiring for my eyes during extended periods. I would also like to have something that I could wear as sunglasses on a daily basis. No need in buying some expensive glasses only to use them when I shoot, right?

Which ones are you using currently?

I'm currently useing Randolph Ranger glasses. They cost 140.00 but come with three different colors of lenses, a vermillion, yellow and dark purple. You can get other colors after the purchase.

If your wallet can take it get a set of lenses of different colors to fit one frame. I have the S & W package from Cabela's that I only use for shooting and hunting. Works nice with the red lens as it highlights the deer in the woods.

Hidalgo: I have some Oakleys that work pretty well. They are M Frame with Sweep vented lenses (VR28). They work pretty well as regular sun glasses (28% light transmission).

Oakley M frames are great shooting glasses.

You want to choose a tint that allows your pupils to be dilated to the smallest size without causing you to squint. This will give you the greatest depth of field.

As for color, it depends on what you are shooting, what the background color is, and lighting conditions.

Try Rudy Projects, avaialable at some eye doctors offices. I think they have better glass than the Oakleys. They are shatter proof and will replace the lenses free of charge if you scratch the coating. I think they will exceed the ANSI standards also.
