I am lookin for a light that I can use for coon and coyote hunting. Been looking at wheat lights but they don't look like they will reach very far with a red filter. I want a light that can be worn on my head and will reach at least 160 yards because i hunt by my self. I need it to spot the coyotes and for shooting. Is there anything like what i am looking for?

Cabelas.com-I know they have some head mounted lights but I'm not sure if headmount lights exist for ranges like yours, with a red filter.
Maybe a scope mounted light would be a better choice, easier to aim through a scope in the dark and far more range than a headmount.

I use My Nitelite halogen and or hot light and have no problem seeing that far with the red lense. I also have the scope light that plugs into the charger port on the battery. The problem with it (if you use only that to shine) is your arms get tired.
I tried the hard hat mount (light on the head) a couple of times this winter and the problem I found with that is, on cold nights, your breath always inhibits your vision. (maybe I'm just full of hot air)
Maybe your not hunting in that kinda situation but, just some problems I've found.

Hi CJ. I see you are not getting much action. I think I will bounce this over to Night Calling. Those guys will have some more advice probably. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
