shooting sticks

Check out Varmint Als web page and click on Bi-Fur-Pod. he explains how to make some and you can customize them anyway you want obviously. I just got the stuff to make 2 pair and it ran me about $13.

+1 BiFurPod sticks - After you custom camo them they look much better, mine served me well. Cost = around $8-$10 if you already have spray paint or camo tape.

The Sling Stix Idea sounds good but i will have to try them before giving my opinion. I do like my Stoney Points and can say, don't leave home without them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A couple of the guys on the forum have tried the slingstix and weren't very impressed. I was going to get a set til I looked at them at Cabela's. I'm going to build a couple more of Varmint Al's shooting sticks.

If you're taller than about 6'2" most of the commercial made shooting sticks will be too short for you. Especially if you shoot from a slightly elevated position.

Varmint Al has a size chart for building a pair that should fit your height. The first pair I built, seemed a little short, so the next pair I added a couple inches to. I just recently picked up a Mono pod, Im thinking it will be easier to pivot the rifle, and move if the prey comes from another direction. Havent had a chance to try it yet.

+1, Varmint Al 'Da Man'. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
I've made 6 sets out of some old wood crutches found at yard sales & such. You can get 'em for about a buck & crutch wood 'PRETTY TUFF!' /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I use three sticks of bamboo, 6ft. 6, tied together with a piece of inner tube from a bike. Light to carry, accurate and cheap. If you are tall cut the bamboo longer or shorter if you are short.

or you can just use some broken hockey sticks readily available at any skating rink here in Canada anyways /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

2-1/2" Aluminum round stock 36" grind point on one end, drill hole for # 10 machine screw 4" down from other end, wrap 4" end with black electrical tape, use washers to space the two round stock pcs. Spray the rest with flat black paint. Great and not expensive!!!!!

Anyone tried a bog-pod, just like the stoney points only they have a swivel on top. Check out the website, a local store had them for about $20 less than the website state. Already have the sp's or I would have picked a set up. Also come in a tripod version.
