I just recently built my 1st permanent shooting table on my place & should have done it a long time ago. It turned out really nice! Very stable & it can accommodate right or left hand shooters. I decided to not build a seat integrated into it, so that you can simply use a stool or seat that will match the shooters height accordingly. Don't have very much cost into it, either. I've also seen some nice plans for homemade, portable shooting tables. I doubt they would be as sturdy as something built off of 6x6 post, though. The heavier the better, in my opinion.
