Anyone have any pics with a bobcat the harvested with shotgun? Maybe include load used, distance and call used maybe time it took to call them in.

I have killed 2 so far this year....12 gauge
3 inch Federal #4 buck...One at 35 yards and one at 40..

I am still looking for the perfect load though...I am not entirely sold on #4 buck..I should have had another cat or two to show..

Been using a combination of cottontail/snowshoe fo my calling and all cats have come in fairly quick, under 5 minutes..Hunting the Cascades..

#4Buck hammers them when hit, but you only have 41 pellets in that load which leaves the possibility of not enough hits on smaller animals like fox or bobcats at distance. And that means runners.

Personally I prefer a load with a higher pellet count, and you don't need big heavy pellets on thin skinned bobcats. I really like 3" lead #2 shot.

3" BB sounds perfect on paper but nobody can get them to pattern past 30 yards.

Lon0121, I have taken several bobcats, but only one with a shotgun - my first. That was several years ago when I first got into predator calling.
This particular cat was rather small. I took it with a Remington 1187 shotgun, shooting a 2 3/4" Remington copper plated turkey load of #4s.
Distance was about 15 yards or so - it was very close, too close actually and the full load hit it. I called it with a Johnny Steward rabbit sound,
and it took probably 30-40 minutes, guessing. Now, when I use a shotgun, which is rarely, I use Dead Coyote or #4 buck. I also like the now-discontinued
Remington HD BB loads. That one patterns great in my gun, with lots of pellets on target. Too bad it's not available anymore.

Santiam, nice cat and photos. I especially like the second photo.

Nice going Chupa. That cat was close.

Congrats to all on the 'cats!

Santiam: Very nice 'cats for the Cascades. They are as light colored as our East Side 'cats. Should bring some good coin!

Rem 870, 3" #2 lead shot, Kick's .670" extended ported choke. Most recent shotgun cat 13 lbs showed up at 22 minutes and sat in the shade at 75 yards for almost half an hour before coming in to 45 yards for the shot.

This one was 53 yards same setup as above. Saw him about 100 yards out after about 10 min and he disappeared. Then popped up through the brush at about 60 yards and sat there forever. I walked towards him slowly to close the distance and fired when I thought he was about to spook.

My wife 35 yds 3" 870 #2 lead shot, DRT, Primos Catnip hand call, maybe 15 minutes. Then my turn came a few days later, pretty much everything the same. Gave him a face full of the #2s @ 35 yds after he spotted me calling and moving my head. I lost the blood trail after about 100 yds in some standing water. Made me sick.

Shot one at 15yards in thick pines. This was when I had a Johnny Stewart and used one of the bird calls Sorry I forgot "big help right" anyways sat on stand for 30min called for coyotes then switched to Cats Had a Feather hanging from a arrow in a bush above the call big 'ol Cat B-lined straight to the call and I hit her with a 3-1/2 heavy Magnum #4's. No pic sorry...but something I remeber about the stand is I didn't stop the call....I let it run until something showed up.

I've taken 2 coyotes with the lead #2's, both surprised me on cat stands. One last year ans one this year. First one leaped out of the brush from 7 yards and I drilled him dead. The other one came in at a small clearing at the top of a brushy draw and for some reason my buddy didn't shoot it with his rifle. As it turned to leave at about 35-40 yards my first shot broke both his back leg bones in half. He rolled and tried to get up so I put 2 more shells into him. He tumbled about 15 yards down the hill and was done. It works, but I wouldn't use #2's on purpose for coyotes, and plan on follow up shots. Coyote fur stops a lot of the pellets from penetrating but they do still have enough punch to break bones.

I posted a couple pics on "calling in the east" of cats taken with my 12ga Ruger. The big male hanging on the fence was 37 pounds, one shot dead coyote, at about 30yds. The female hanging on the woodpile was 19 pounds, 3" Fed BB, same range. I can't seem to find one of those magic 75yd shotguns so I call them close or let them go. I have killed coyotes with 3" copper plated #2 with mixed results, most required a finisher. Now that bigger shot is legal here I won't go back.

This is a female taken @ 20yards with my trusty mossberg 500 with kicks howler choke and 3" dead coyote.
she came running in at the 10 minute mark to cotton tail.

This male came sneaking in super slow to baby cotton tail @ 15 minute mark. Put him out with the same gun and load @ 20yards.

This female is on the smaller side, hard to tell in the thick stuff sometimes. Same gun-load and snowshoe hare distress under 15 minutes @ 25 yards.

This one flat out ran in at the 5 minute mark. Mossberg 938 with carlsons choke. cotton tail distress @ 15 yards.

This one took about an hour to come to the call right at dark.
Cotton tail distress. Benelle M3 with kicks hyflyer choke and 3-1/2" dead coyote, shot @ 45 yards.

I don't need many excuses to post my bobcats, live and dead, Lon - thanks.

I've called multiple bobcats into shotgun range, but they're well protected on public land in Florida, so only one called met its end, but they were all under 20 yards. This was a particularly cold year for us at that time, so all of these bocats, the dead one and the live ones, all showed up under 5 minutes.

My 4th called and only shot bobcat was under 20 yards with Remington 3" #4 Buckshot out of my Benelli M1S90 26" barrel, standard modified choke. Raked from front to back on the right side, broke the right rear leg. It still jumped 5 feet vertical and ran 40 yards to cover where it immediately expired. Healthy 24 pounds, but not that spotted. Pictures were taken before I learned the proper hanging critter technique popular here!

Called a few more where shotgun was in hand (a couple I could have almost poked them with it), but they weren't legal take and got to walk. Click to see in motion:

This one was a monster tom!

Almost close enough to poke with my barrel:

Prettiest bobcat I've ever seen down here:

The one on the left can in in less than a minute. Shot with 2 3/4 #4 buckshot.

This one was also with 2 3/4 #4 buckshot at about 30 yards at about the 3-4 minute mark to rabbit distress.
