Sierra 22 cal 50 gr BK at what ranges

yes I have first hand experience. It has performed quite well. Black Hills used to load it in Blue Box and we killed many coyotes out to 300 yards. A few at 310-325 yards.
Well placed shots have small entry no exit. One at 200+ slipped beside the eyeball with no entry damage and no exit.
After 250 there have been a few shots that needed a follow up for an instant kill. This I believe is from the slower speed of the .223. In the .22-250 this rarely happens.
After entry the bullet explodes into about a hundred pieces forming sort of a cone about 6 inches deep and 4-6 inches spread.

My brother has killed about half a dozen yotes with a these bullets out of his savage predator in .223. All have been one shot kills, ranging from 60 yds to 280. I did watch one dog run about 50 yds on a lung shot from about 275 yds. None of the hits have left an exit wound, and all but the one were DRT. I've also seen him shoot 1/2 gallon milk jugs with these loadings at a range finder measured 425yds. A very good bullet for most applications in the 223.
