Sierra .243 60 gr HP

A little background here:

My goal for this particular rifle is to come up with a maximum point blank range load. I would normally Chase teeny tiny groups but this rifle is going to serve a specific purpose and MPBR is what I'm going for here and willing to sacrifice some accuracy potential, provided its close to 1 Mia or better.

The rifle is a Rem 700 ADL Youth in 243 win, 20" barrel, 1 in 9.25 twist.
After some extensive research and a few conversations with ackleyman I settled on the 60 gr Sierra HP as my starting point. Ackleyman and others have suggested Win 760 as a good powder to start with, i intend to give it a go the next time I find some but in the interest of thoroughness I'm looking for others suggestions and experiences to maximize velocity from the 20" barrel.

Edit to add that results and experiences with 55-65 gr weight bullets appreciated as well.

Closest 243 load I've chrono'd was 65 gr HDY VMAX at 3434 fps via 40.8 gr IMR 4166, f210m, 2.650 col.
That was from a 22" A-bolt. I stopped there, but no pressure signs.
I would also look at SuperFormance too, had I continued the speed quest.

I've considered Superformance as I have some available after switching away from it in the creedmoor. The closest data I can find published is for the 65 vmax so there may at least be a starting point.

Check the loading manuals, but my memory is calling out about 41g of Varget also...check the manual

I put a gun like yours in a Mountain rifle stock, holy cow...nice rig...nephew got that one!

From Hodgdon www site, max 243 60 gr hp loads corrected to 20", per Berger mnl -124 fps:
IMR 4166, 43.5 gr -> 3669 fps
Varget , 42.7 gr -> 3692 fps
no data for Superformance but CFE233 & 8208XBR were less fps.

I have data for the 60 gr bullet. I was implying the closest data I could get for Superformance was with the 65. But thanks for the info.

Right now Varget and H4895 are my top contenders as I have both and reports are excellent. AR Comp and Superformance are intriguing based on results in similar capacity cases and bullet weights but not finding any published load data, anybody work with either of these 2 in the past?

The only mod this one is getting is to be threaded for my suppressor and a quality 2-7 scope. It has a cheap Simmons on it now and I had a load with 95 gr SST worked up for it. After many trials and tribulations I've come to the conclusion that a quality lower power high field of view scope with a MPBR load is perfect for a general hunting rifle for my wife. (And should make me a nice short compact truck gun;) )

I shoot .243 with 55gr SBK's, it's a lights out load in my TC Venture. It's my coyote load and when zeroed at 250 yds it had a MPBR of 400yds. Still carries 539 ft/lbs of energy. With this I'm 3.2" high at 200 and 9" low at 400. For coyotes I don't have any hold over. 49.0gr of H380.

I used h414 (same as 760) and sierra 60g hp. Charges were 46.5 to 47.5 and all shot tiny groups with no pressure signs in my rifle which was a sako a7 (1 in 10). Very accurate and never had one exit a coyote. It was the best combination in my gun you will probably not have to look further than 760 (414)with a 60 grain sierra.
