Sierra 64 gr. TGK / Gamechanger

I tried the search on these but came up empty Has anyone tried these in an AR ? I have been using the 65 GK but running low and couldn’t find more. I found the 64’s available so though I’d give them a try. They are a bit longer than the 65’s so I’m hoping they still fit the mag length and shoot as good?

From all acccounts, they are the same length, and have a nearly identical bearing surface as the 69TMK. I have seen some pretty solid reports, and have been tempted to try them. Since 69TMKs are getting tough to find, I may be trying them sooner rather than later.

My concern is the length, and if they take up too much case capacity to get them to mag length. How do your 69 TMK's do in this regard?

What kind of velocity are you getting?

It has been my experience that the sleek pointy VLD'ish type designs do not shoot as well with large amounts of jump (AR15 mag length)

I have a short chambered 223 Wylde i use to shoot the 60gr Sierra TMK's and the 55 grain Nosler E-tips.

That rifle shoots them well because of the short throat. My Nato chambers scatter them like buckshot.

You do loose case capacity with the long designs. This calls for small granule extruded that "may" be a bit faster of a powder than you normally use, or ball powder.

A bit of velocity loss will be made up for at distance due to the higher B.C.

Unfortunately 223 is not very powerful at distance no matter what.

Shot some amazing groups out of my 22 grendel es's were 10 or less on 3 groups and had 3 .25" groups.

The thing I dont like is how they tear animals up. Yes I want a dead animal 1st, but I want to take their fur if good and the 64 for me is not that bullet.

Have you shot any deer with the 64gr TGK?
