Sighting in a 9mm rifle?

What yardage is best for sighting in a rifle chambered in 9mm, handgun cartridge? New to me so I'm not sure. Its dead on at 25yds and a few inchs low at 100. I'd like it to be usable at those ranges without a ton of hold over. Thanks!

Depending on which 9mm your talking about, 9x57mm pretty much the same as you would a 358 Win. 2" high at 100yards

I'd do it at 75 yards and determine trajectory over POA in between the muzzle and out to 100. Of course scope height will come into play here to some extent.

I'm using a Truglo red dot for an optic. But may buy a really low powered scope later. I kinda like the quick accusation of the dot. Right now, shooting S&B 124 grain FMJ's, but that may change to.

What are you doing with it just plinking, some type of competition, hunting?
I'm using a FX9 with a 16" barrel and a Burris fastfire 3 for multigun shoots at a couple local clubs, shooting the cheap American eagle 115 fmj ammo.

I zeroed it at 92yrds (both clubs have only 100 yrd range and the stages start out Infront of the covered firing line)
Which works out really well for me its about +1.1 at 25yrds and about -1.1 at 100 yrds and about +2 at 50 most of the steel plates are 6 to 10" I can pretty much put the dot anywhere on a plate and get a ding.
Max pbr on a 6" steel plate is about 155yrds

LOL, I'm not really sure what I'm doing with it yet. Its sort of a bucket list gun. Thought it would be fun to try and kill pigs with or maybe even a coyote but mostly plinking. Its a Ruger PC carbine. I ran 50 rounds through it today and wished I'd have brought another box of ammo with me. Mucho fun to shoot for sure.

When I shot the rifle first at 25 yards I was about an inch high. Went to 50 and was about 2-2 1/2 inchs high and really close to dead on at 100. The wind picked up pretty hard and I ran out of ammo. I shot a bunch at 25 mainly cause it was just stacking them on top of each other. 50 yd groups opened up to about 1 1/2 inchs but got minute of coyote at 100. Not as good as I was hoping for but had a lot of wind too. I'll try some different ammo next time out. The S&B is good ammo and cheap so I usually just use it for practice rounds.

My 10.5" AR9 is sighted in at 25 yards. It is about 1.5" high at 50 yards, zero at 75 yards and 3" or so low at 100 yards. It's out of steam by then anyway.

MPFD, I tend to agree that 100yds is about all the 9mm is good for although (here comes the flames)I watched a Youtube video about how far a 9mm will kill. The guy shot a 9mm out to 440yds in a KelTec rifle and it went through a 3/4 inch piece of plywood and a 2x4. I know its the internet but it was interesting to see the 9mm still had enough left to do that. I won't say it was accurate but it got there. But myself...75 to 100 yards will be my max yardage and hopefully closer than that.

Should I try some +P ammo as apposed to the S&B FMJ? Maybe get a little more punch??

I pretty much just plink steel with mine. It has a vortex Strike fire zero'd at 25 yards, and sometimes stretch to longer range (100+) for fun. It use to eat a lot of steel cased, Winchester "Forged" ammo. I could get it at Walmart for $50 per 300. I sighted mine in with Remington Green/White box JHP's. I calculated at 100 yards with 115 grain JHP, it's still carrying as much energy as a 22 mag at the muzzle. I'd use it on a varmint of opportunity..

I think it will make a nice "stress relief" rifle. One you can go out with and just blow stuff up with. I don't reload 9mm, its cheap enough to just buy. I don't even bother saving the brass. I want to try some type pf +P ammo and some HP bullets instead of FMJ's just to see if accuracy improves at farther distances. The cheap stuff shoots good out to 50yds but not that good much farther out. I'm still on the fence with the red dot as opposed to a low power scope.

I bet keeping it under 100 yrds would be best. Sight in about 1/2" high at 50 and you should be good.

Then shoot a shot at 25, 50 and 100 yrds (or whatever your range has) on the SAME paper target. Thdn you will have a good reference for where it shoots. Put a small cheat sheet on the side of the gun for a reminder of holds at those ranges.

Shot some 115 FMJ today. Got a ragged hole at 50yds and about an inch high. I was about 3 inchs low at 100yds and the group was decent. Maybe 2 inchs for 5 shots. I shot my 4" steel plate and it knocked it off the hooks so its hitting pretty hard at 100yds. Definitely minute of coyote. Just FYI for anyone thinking of buying one, bring lots of ammo cause one box won't do. Its a ball to shoot. So far, 100 rounds through it and not a single hick-up. If there was a negative, it will be the trigger. It breaks clean but a little on the heavy side. Other than that is a nice rifle. Mines just the regular PC Carbine but they have an Ultimate out now that's more tactical. M-loc fore-end and 6 position stock. Several add on options out there also.

My CZ EVO does very well @100 yards with +P ammo.
I used high rings with my scope up to flatten the ark.
I shot a few NOVX 9mm +P 65gr @1635. They did very well.
They would kill a groundhog @ 100 yards easy.
They ran very well through my EVO, very clean firing.

I can tell everyone right now.....I got to find some cheap bulk ammo cause this thing is a bunch of fun to shoot and 50 rounds don't last very long. Maybe the new will wear off and it will be easier on the pocket. LOL! I haven't got around to any +P stuff yet, but maybe this week end. If any of you were on the fence about getting one, do it! The only mod that I might do soon would be upgrading the trigger. M-Carbo offers a spring kit as well as a flat trigger replacement. Not to sure about replacing the trigger but I think I may get the spring kit.
