Has anybody out there used the Sightron scopes and what do you think of them? Do you like the plex or mil-dot better for a varmint rifle(coyotes/fox).I'm thinking of getting one of the 3-12X with the plex and saving over the gold ring... Any ideas or suggestions to give?

Curly-I've heard alot of good things about Sightron so I had to check them out for myself. You will not be disappointed. Ihave one on order. I've always been a Leupold guy but for the money difference Sightron is worth serious consideration. Find a dealer in your area that carries both and compare for yourself. I thought the sightron was clearer. My opinion. Also got to www.sightron.com and they'll send a catalog pretty quickly. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Wishbone

Wishbone, It's nice to see there is SOMBODY who isn't so closed minded as to there are other scopes than Leupold. Thanks for the input .. They (leuplod) do make GREAT scopes but getting out of my price range for what they offer and they don't care. Also it's nice to see somebody does make a scope with 1/8 clicks for those of us that would like it...they don't mean much at 100 yards but try to get a scope dead over center at 400 yards and that 1" of adjustment (1 click of 1/4min) can MAKE a difference. Thanks again for the input.

Curly one word of advise about a Sightron scope. If you can, find a "local dealer to buy it from. If you buy it from them and the scope ever screws up you take it off put it back in the box, take it to the dealer that you bought it from and they hand you a new scope.

Sightrons have an "over the counter life time warranty". If you buy it off the internet you will have to send it back to Sightron for any warranty work.

Now that is out of the way the Sightrons that I have looked through are extremely clear. I have shot a coyote using one on my cousins 25-06 and it was fantastic in semi low light conditions. I sometimes wonder just how much better a Leupold can transmit light as there is only so much light that a human eye can use and I can not tell a difference in the two when they are side by side. Brightness and clarity are far more important.

And yes guys that means I am knocking the over priced Leupolds so you can flame away if you'd like, as you will not change my mind about them. I detest having to pay in advance for any warranty work that I might have to have on down the line.......>>>>>>>>>James L.

I bought a Sightron scope a year ago that was the 3-12x42 MilDot. The optics are clear and the rectile very sharp and easy to read. I have yet to mount it on a rifle though. Still in the process for that. By the way, I paid around $220 for mine...I think via internet. My memory is mush. Has been since I was 19.

Just one word of caution. I thought the scope I purchased could have a sun shade mounted onto it, but it cannot. I believe they have a model in which you can. That is the only draw back I could see.

One improvement I would like to see them make is the use of target turrets like the ones on Nightforce scopes. I don't own one of those yet, but will someday!

Curly-Like James said. Sightron has a lifetime warranty as does Leupold. From Sightron's catalog it says"unconditional lifetime replacement warranty". I believe they'll get to the target turret and sun shade accessory soon as they grow.
Another thing I liked about their plex reticle was it seems slightly thicker than Leupold's duplex reticle and seemed to draw my eye to the center right away. It's nowhere near a heavy reticle but i noticed a difference. I have 3 Leupolds with duplex reticles and -I don't know-maybe its just me but check 'em out side by side and see. Leupold's been in business since forever. Sighton since 1993. Other than that?
