Silly elk ?

I did not think that even deer see orange. They can see aspects of blue, but I think there color vision is pretty limited. When it comes to elk movement and scent are the key. Watch some videos of muzzle loader hunts in Colorado and you will see elk feet from hunters in orange.

I had a 12 pt buck run up on me while on a game trail last year. ( too bad I was hunting elk )

It literally came within 3-5 feet of me, and never saw me until I said "boo", in order to get it to not step on me.

In colorado ( where I was hunting ) you have to have orange on your head, and on your chest and back.

It never saw me.

The cow elk I shot in 2005 was at 25 yds and looked at me twice and never saw me.

Nope, I've had deer look at me in Virgina, where your required to wear a jacket, gloves, and hat, and then put their head back down and start feeding. And Im talking

We have had both deer & elk within 5 feet of us while wearing orange vests. But we also wear Camo Orange and go the extra step of using a UV wash along with scent free wash. Science or not it works. Good Luck

I had a bull come up on me to within 11 steps when cow calling. I was standing in the open with no intervening cover. He stood and looked at me for over a minute without showing any concern. Then, I blinked my eyes and he bolted like a cat with tail afire!

Both are color blind they only see contrasts in colors. If you stand perfectly still they will see the contrasts but may keep coming.
