Simmons Pistol Scopes??

I'm curious to know if anyone has experience with Simmons pistol scopes?? I have a Savage Striker in 7mm-08 and I am looking for a new scope, preferably a variable power. Currently, there is a 4x Charles Daly on it, and, while it is okay, I still want to move up to a variable, without taking out a second mortgage, lol.
The Striker doesn't see a lot of use, but comes out for Missouri's Alternative Weapons Season. I have killed a small buck with it, and although it's very accurate, I gave him a sporting chance, and fired a "warning shot"!!lol.
Any experience, advice, complaints??

Id save a while.....or take out a mortgage if i had to lol.....and get a burris 3x12 handgun scope for that thing. You may or may not use 12x hunting, but it would do wonders on target work, sighting in @100 etc. or allow to practice for longer ranges....”bench rested”.

If a muzzle brake was added, it can allow use of a riflescope on it. Just requires more practice for a different style hold.

Nice gun. Shame to handicap it and yourself. I have a variable simmons on a ruger mk3. It can work.....but there are better options. In the end, a man does what he has to, and as much as his interest level allows. Have fun!

JD Jones used to use the simmons 2x7 on a lot of his handguns. I have one on a 35 remington TC. It will get you by until you want something better. The loopy 2.5x8 is also a.nice scope.

As far as the 100 yard sight in, I'm getting a group that measures about 1&1/4 inches with the 4x scope, on sandbags. Not too shabby, I guess, for a 15" barrel!

The one Simmons pistol scope I owned died shortly after mounting it on a ruger disley blackhawk in 45lc.
I say save up and buy better glass.

I've got a straight 4 power on a Ruger 22 pistol. Been on it for over 30 years and still going strong. I got the pistol and scope for Christmas when my son was 6 months old. He will be 35 next Friday.

I have a variety of makes on my SP's, Bushnell, Burris and Leupold. For day in and day out average use its a Bushnell Elite, now discontinued, (one of the dumbest moves yet by the powers to be at Bushnell).

Why the Bushnell? Because the eye relief stays so constant, at least more so than the others.
Crank up the powers on the others and eye relief really suffers on the high end.

The weaver JD pushed and prefered has long been discontinued. It was a four or five star Weaver, I had one and it was good but let it go on a barrel.

There are some that have went to heavy rigs with good brakes and are using rifle scopes. I have not but maybe Kyle has?

The groups you are shooting with a 4x scope leave little to be desired. I ran a 5X Burris for a number of years on my IHMSA gun in 6TCU for 1/2 scale, actually 3/8 scale. It is a piece of glass looked over by many.

I had tracking issues with the last weaver I had on an XP. Put some elevation in and it would mess with the windage, put windage in, take it back out and it would mess with elevation after a shot or two.

I have a Simmons Gold cup (I think) It has hold up great I had it on a 375 JDJ held zero with no problem, now it seats on top of a 222 14" contender barrel. The glass is not as clear as the Leupold or Burris.

I have a Simmons on my Ruger Super Redhawk in 44mag. Been on it about 20 years, lot of rounds down the barrel, still on.
