Single Stage trigger

After working some antelope loads, I can see that a standard
AR-15 trigger, even with JP springs, and a set screw for
travel limiting, the 6mm WOA deserves a better trigger.

So, if you have a single stage after-market trigger, what
are the pro's and con's, of your trigger? At the moment
I am looking at the Timney drop-in, and the JP JPFCP-1 kit,
that takes a bit of fitting to get installed. But I am
open to just about any suggestions as long as it is a
single stage, no creep, or close to no creep, and breaks
at or below 3 lbs. Does anyone make a SS trigger that
breaks down around 1 lb? I have 3 other AR-15s, one with an
Armalite NM(with JP springs), one is a standard AR-15, with
an over-travel set screw set up until the safety just works,
and with JP springs, and one is just a standard trigger with
JP springs, and all of the horrible creep. For a CQB rifle,
no problem on the horrible 2 stage, but on a hunting rifle,
I am going to do something in a single stage.

I prefer single stages too. I have a 3# skeleton Timney and a 1.5# Jard. Couldn't get the Timney to 3# (more like 3 1/2) or the Jard to 1.5# (more like 2#). If the Jard doesn't lose its setting later, I like it better. It is however, not fun to get adjusted; the online video makes it look easy, but it's not.

Squeeze- I sent my trigger to Bill Springfield. I wasn't really sure what to expect. I received my trigger and installed it and dry-fired it several times around the house, waiting for the week-end to get here. I took it to the range Saturday and holy cow, what a difference. I wanted at least a 2lb. trigger and crisp. It breaks good and clean and is in the neiborhood of 2lbs. Was well worth the $59, it cost. If there is any creep, it is so very minimal I can't really notice it. I like LIGHT triggers and for an AR trigger, I'm very pleased. Just an option as to buying a new trigger.

I have a timney 3# a JP that breaks at 2.5# and a bill springfield tuned milspec that breaks at 3.2#. I think the best bang for the buck is the bill springfield trigger best $35.00 I ever spent.

I was VEEEERY sceptical about sending my trigger to Bill. Me and a bud had recently got burned really bad on a couple of trigger jobs from a guy who could "Do anything" with an AR trigger. He could make it as light as you wanted it. One ended up in the trash can. After getting Bill's. I wouldn't hesitate a second to send him another.

Bill Springfield has quite a following as you can see above.

I have installed 2 JP systems and they are great. They do take a bit of time to set up, but it's not that big of a deal. I can't recall the exact #, but I think I have them at about 3.25#.

I also have two RRA 2 stage systems and I'll have to admit I'm starting to like them better. Ford and Chevy I guess.

Can you help me understand a 2-stage trigger. All I know about is a normal trigger. I do like a light trigger though. Thanks guys.

With a 2 stage you take up the slack in the first stage. Then the squeez the very light second stage. They are great for a bench gun, but I hate them in a hunting rifle. Hope this helps.

Shayne - my take on the RRA 2 stage is that "taking up the slack" is about like how you "feel" the trigger putting pressure on your finger on a single stage before it goes off. The only difference is that your finger is moving on the 2 stage. For me, and personal preference only obviously, this helps me focus on the target as I am "taking up the slack". By focus I mean concentrate on keeping the crosshairs or red dot on the vitals.

Then it's boom-flop from there (when things go right lol).
