sling for A2 stock

Hey I'm just wondering for those of you who have an a2 fixed stock what sling you're using?

And how you've attached it to your rifle?

I've used both conventional 2 point and currently use a single point sling which I like better because it's not constantly sliding off your shoulder when you are walking. It also frees up your hands to carry your call, seat etc. You have to order a single point sling adapter for an A2 stock which installs between the stock and the receiver. It comes as a kit from midway, brownells or sometimes ebay. They make left and right so pay attention when you order, for a right hander the ring is on the left side.

Giving away my age here, but I use the old M1 Garand web sling or conventional leather (2 pt) sling which I also use to steady offhand positions when artificial support is not available. Occasionally sling does tend to slip off shoulder, but sewing a large button on the shoulder of your hunting shirt solves that problem. I'm right handed and often carry muzzle down on left shoulder w/sling adjusted for offhand support. W/left hand on forend, rifle can be quickly brought to bear with sling wrapped around left arm for offhand support in one smooth motion.

Have never tried a 1 point. Whoadog, can the 1 point be adjusted so as to serve this (offhand support) function as well?

Regards,
hm

Though I don't have a traditional A2 Stock it is fixed. I like using a TAG style sling mounted so that I can cinch the rifle across my chest. Carrying it like this allows me to secure the rifle safely at the sametime it frees up my hands to carry my call, shooting sticks etc. It also allows for quick access to it if needed. when using a single point sling in the past the rifle always seemed to hang to low and get in my why while walking to my stand. JMO. I have a ACE Skeleton Stock instead of the A2 and the picture below shows shows how I currently have it rigged.

I replaced the rear loop sling attachment on mine with something like this:

Sling Stud

With a stud on my float tube, it works with any standard rifle sling and is easy on and off or switching slings.

Thanks for the replies! So when I was building my ar a local shop recommended a quick connect adapter on my float tube then using a magpul ms3 gen2 sling. But doing this essentially had me using the ms3 backwards and then I can't use it as a 1 point. I just don't like the idea of spending that much on a sling and not being able to use all the options it provides.

Yes it can, it seems very stable because the sling I use has some kind of bungy cord that allows you to mount the rifle and at the same time is pulling it back to you. I don't take many offhand shots, mostly I just use it to carry the rifle then unsnap the sling from the rifle once i'm seated and put the rifle on sticks. The sling stays on me and there is nothing hanging off the rifle to get in the way. Probably not for everybody but works for me.
