I have an olympic ML2 that i would like to put a sling on, i dont have a fwd stud, but can put one in if i need to. what brand and style are you guys using for slings?

It depends on several things, the wiegth of your rifle is only one, what will you be useing it for is another. Just a carry strap? get a GI sling and be happy. To use as a brace ? Again the GI 2point or one of the three point slings
I have one AR that wieghs in close to ten pounds with bi pod and scope it has a carry strap GI type 2 poing sling since I seldom shoot it off hand usually prone or off a bench with the Bi Pod. My other AR only wieghs 7 pounds it is more a brush gun since I use it for Hogs in deep cover I have it set up with a single point sling. When deployed I have my right hand on the hand grip to stabilyze it and if i jump a Hog (or one jumps me) I can bring it up and in target fast.Like many things it is a choice You have to make for yourself dependant on your conditions and what works for you.

I use a Claw sling carrying the rifle muzzle down.

+1 I have 2 of these. One on my Rem 700 the other on my 10/22. Ill be putting one on my AR i have coming in the mail soon. Awesome slings. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I bought the kit from strapworks.com and fooled around with it a bit. I hate it. Might work better on a skinny person, but it ain't worth a flip if you happen to be "bubba" sized. Not enough slack in the buckles, and the buckles click together.

I spent $4 on a GI sling and carried it a couple of weekends hunting. It ain't fancy, but it works.

well, i found one here in houston. its a spec ops T.H.E. Mamba and its convertable from 1 to 2 to 3 point, and is very comfortable, and allows good use of the weapon. thanks for the advice.
