All I know about this rifle is they were only made for 2 years and they were made by Howa. I'm thinking about buying one at a very good price. Does anyone have any experience with these rifles? What do you think? Thanks!

They are still being made as a Weatherby Vanguard, it's S&W that is not importing them anymore.

As you know, they were made by Howa. Mossberg also imported Howa's at one time, and are a good value if you can find one. I owned the Mossberg way back in the early 90's, and it shot great, sub-moa was common.

You should buy it. I bet it will shoot great.

I've had a Smith and Wesson custom deluxe in .243 for over 20 years now and it has always been a shooter and beautiful rifle. Looks like a mark 5 Weatherby.

My son & myself bought one each back 20 yrs or more for $200 new a piece. Good rifles & kept mine, a .270, for about 4 yrs & sold it for what I gave for it & bought a Remmy 700 BDL LH in .270. Wish I had kept it. Good rifle but I shoot LH. My son still has his & likes it enuff to keep it. His is 30/06.

I received a S&W 1500 30-06 for a Christmas present in 82 and have been killing deer with it ever since. Wouldn't trade it off for anything.

My 1500 06 has put 6 elk and way more deer than is legal in the freezer. It has shot 130grain to 180 grain with great performance .4 years ago I was in a bad wreck and have a lot of pins and screws in my neck and cant take recoil. I have switched over to cast bullet loads and the old girl is doing quite well with them. Not for sale
