So what about the Icon?

I had a coworker that had one in 308. I was at the range with him before last deer season and he was having a helluva time trying to get the thing to group. 2 different Nikon Monarch scopes, checked by the shop and he never did get it to shoot decent. He sent it back to TC. I don't see him much anymore as I have since transfered but will ask him what happened when I see him.

Disclaimer:I am a fan of TC and not bashing them at all.

There have been a couple guys post about buying them here. I believe Glen Guess showed a good target from initial sighting of his. I also read somewhere on a rumor that someone had an accuracy issue. Sure looks like a good gun with great features.
It looks like the new Sako is targeting the Icon both in appearance and price. You can bet there won't be any accuracy problems with it. http://www.sakoa7.net/

I was looking at one yesterday, and got to wondering how they were panning out. The .30 TC is a cool little cartridge. It is the same length as the 300 Savage, with a longer neck and what appears to be the same shoulder angle.

This Sako might be a good rifle to compete with the TC. I didn't jump at the chance to try one of the Icons at $819.00 before tax. Too many atempts at failed inovative design. Over engineered in my estimation. Remingtons might be boring. and Savages might be ugly. But at over $800 clams, you better be able to produce. Not seeing reviews on the forums set me to wondering if they were in fact producing. I don't think I will jump into one just yet.

Boy that Sako looks like one heck of a rifle! That is the first time I've looked it over (on the website) and I was very impressed. I kind of wish I hadn't seen that!

The TC seems like a well built rifle and shoulders well, but I have not heard enough accuracy info from those who have tried it to know yet?

I have handled one but never shot one yet, seems to be a nicely well built rifle. I have not heard of any bad news about the rifle? Here is one of the things I have been keeping my eye on. "The New WarLord" This new rig is what is in store for the future Custom Icon! With a Bartlein barrel, Manner T2 stock, custom made bottom metal to contain AI mags!! This rifle had guys like George Gardner, Tom Manners, Mark Laney from TC on this build!

Builders like George are probably considering future builds on these actions.

They tested it in blizzard conditions out to a 1000yds. on a bionic deer, they were amazed with the results!! They felt that with this prototype that they got it right the first time with only a few part decisions left to decide.

I Looked at one yesterday they sure are purty but still to new ( on the 30tc ) for me to shell out that kind of money . Now from what i have read they are just awsome but every writer gets payed for what they write .And untill i shoot one for myself then i'll just have to save my money .

The long action model looks better than the short action model, IMO, and is better eguipped. Still don't like either. The Warlord is very interesting though.

George Gardner is coming out with his own action. Spoke to him 3-4 days ago.......
