Soaking rattling antlers?

Anyone soak their rattling antlers(actual deer rack)in water before using them?I've heard it makes them sound more natural,don't really know what difference it makes,Considering all the rattle bags and plastics used to rattle with.
Just wondering?

Junebugg,
I wouldn't want to soak my rattling horns in water. If they are in good condition, just store them indoors so weather can't get to them. They will sound just fine for many years.
