Here is a little something I have ben working on for the last day or so. You can either use the round insert or the hexegon insert. Both are 1 inch dia and 1/4 inch thick. I will let you know after the weekend how they work. Let me know what ya think.

I sharpen them on a green wheel useinf a surface grinder here at work. The first set I made have taken such a beating and have kept on going. Teird turing purpleheart and acrylic with no problems.

you should make the shaft of that tool a little wider and flatter? i think that would give you really good control of that tool? how wide is that steel?

Bryan,

That certainly looks like it will work and last a very long time! Flat bottom would be good, too. I've been using carbide insert tooling on my metal lathe for quite a while and the cutting is superior to anything else. I just got my new J & L Industries catalog and the choices for cutter inserts is almost unlimited! Just need to make the tool holder to fit!

I've even considered making a holder from an old heavyduty screwdriver. Just never followed thru with it. I might have to go ahead and try one. Great job... let me know if you start making these... I'm interested!

Nikonut and Deathmaster I have considerd selling some of these, but I have to wait till I am a legal call maker here at PM. Being that they are not actually call. I might be able to get away with. Such a grey area that I don't want to cross with MOD approval. J and L has so many things to offer , you right the ideas are endless one benefit I have is that I work in a machine shop with access to all kind of neat tools and such
