Something to consider

I have 2 lucky ducks, revolt and roughneck. I use the revolt for daytime the roughneck for night, its smaller and don’t need the twirly st night. I’ve never dropped the revolt, not so with the roughneck. I don’t know why, maybe the shape being rounder, never damaged it, till last night. Was setting up and had it between my knees I think and it fell on the handle. Well it broke the handle at the base and the crook at the angle. It still worked so I got it home and glued the crook with monster glue, let it set all night and glued the base back on this morning. Not pretty but holding then taped the crap out of it with monster tape. I’m thinking it might b a good idea to tape that handle for more strength in case you do what I did. I think the crook in the handle is the weak link and a good wrap with tape will keep it from braking that hard plastic.

I've epoxied and jb welded several things on my LD. I've abused my Icotec and its without blemish. LD must be cheap plastic. I too dropped its remote and the screen is fuzzy on the upper half. I called for trying to get fixed and or a replacement and was told they didn't have any to replace it with. Its sits at home mostly as a backup.

From the reviews I've watched on YouTube this issue is supposed to be fixed on the 2.0 models. They are all one piece. I didn't realize that Lucky Duck calls were so known for being cheap and breaking very easily until I recently started doing research into them.

2part epoxy and JB type stuff are a staple in my garage and shop along with gel super glue to hold stuff when needed till the JB sets

I bought a LD from Cabelas a couple years ago. I tried to like it, but I thought the build quality wasn't that good, and the covering kinda cheesy.

I sent it back after a few days, and picked up a X24 instead.

We left my well equipped shop (complete w/multiple vises and clamps of all sorts) when we moved, but thankfully did not leave the JB weld and strapping tape. The base of wife's favorite lamp was broken loose from the internal weight during the move, but with the tape, good ol' JB, a folding table and a bit of yankee ingenuity, managed to salvage the day.

Yah okay…….???

Send a picture(s) or I call BS!

We used a roughneck all day yesterday, Coldest was -2 and it warmed up to 11 around dark.

Only killed 5, never lost a handle and we carry the roughneck by the handle on every stand….

The call in your picture looks to be a 2.0?

If it is, if you read above, I stated that the weak handle issues was supposed to be fixed on the 2.0 models due to call/handle being one solid piece.

I’ve read reports where people literally reach down to pick up a LD call and the handle snap off.
I’ve read reports where the moon is made of cheese!

TR has used a LD Roughneck since the inception, he has never had a broken handle on the original model and he does a lot of stands. Uses a hook on his belt to carry the caller which hooked onto the handle.

He has never had an issue, although I am sure it could happen with the many units being used out there.

If it’s on the internet, it has to be true!

Show us the reports please;-)

I’ve read the cheese reports too but don’t believe them.

However, I have read a shit ton of reports of the plastic cases of LD callers being cheap feeling, fragile, or plain garbage. Also read lots of reports that guys find ways to fix them up when they break because they sound great and Rick’s sounds produce.

I have no dog in this fight. I run Foxpro callers personally. Don’t really care honestly. I’m not a fanboy of any brand. Maybe TR has a great one? Maybe the guys that all report broken callers are gorillas or just plain liars? But this is the first pic I came across with a simple Google search. You be the judge.
