Howdy fellow experts,

I had been playing around with these in one of my rifles and found and excellent shooting load with Reloader 15. Above any published max w/o any signs of pressure.

My question is this... The package says Varmint, but i am not sure if these are explosive or hard. And that would depend on if you are shooting them from a 22-250 or .223 Rem.

In my case they are being fired from an 18 inch AR-15 around the 2700 fps range.

Speed falls off like an umbrella in tow according to the ballistic app.

Anybody have real world experience?

If you're referring to the Speer 70gr Semi-Spitzer #1053 I love them in the AR15.

I've killed a lot of deer stone cold dead... hogs too. I've given them to family and friends with the same results.

I use 26.0grs W-748 in my loads. Can't ever recall a pass-through. Bad thing... no blood trail... but I've never had an animal go more than about 30-40 yards after being hit behind the shoulder.

I'd say it a good load out to 200-300 yards on a good broadside shot.

Went back today and ordered 300 more, price was up to $20, oh well... I only use them for hunting so 500 I have coming plus the stash I have on hand will last me a life time.

They are about as blunt a bullet as i have seen. Even in NATO chambers they are dang near touching the lands when seated at mag length.

I have found they shoot "pretty good" in even poor shooting barrels. I have tried them in 3 different barrels with Varget, W748 and RL15.

All with acceptable results within 1.0 - 1.7 inches throughout the whole range of load development.

Reloader 15 shines a little brighter for accuracy. W748 has pretty good accuracy and faster velocity. For 100 yards and in, that would be the ticket.

At Speers book max with W748 i was hitting 2900fps from an 18 inch barrel with pressure. Accuracy was 10 shots inside of 1.5 inch.
