Speer Bullets

I've never shot a lot of Speer bullets but I have some 50 grain and 55 grain T-N-T's and I want to see if I can get them to shoot. Any special "tricks" for accuracy? Seat them deep, run them hard, lots of jump??? I'd like to get them to shoot cause they are cheap. Bergers are my No,1 bullet with Sierra running beside them but they are hard to get and pricey. Hornady's do well to but the Speers are less than $20 per hundred. Tips and tricks much appreciated.

Flatbase/hp are some of the easiest bullets to work up loads for. Benchmark works well in the 223 case with the 50's. Powder charge test and seating depth test(or vice versa), there aren't really any short cuts to load development.

Another Speer 52gr FB HP fan here, accurate, inexpensive and is one of my favorite coyote hunting bullets. I use it in my 222 Rem, 223, 5.6x50R Mag, 22-250 and 22-250AI. 2230, 748, Benchmark and 3031 in the small stuff and H380 and 4320 in the 22-250s.

I've been playing with the .224 45gr SP in my little 222 Rem carbine but the jury is still out on coyote size preds.

I’ve been using the Speer Grand Slam bullet, 160 gn. in my 280AI ( Winchester Classic Featherweight - rebarrelled) and have taken 18 Sambar Deer over last 18 mths, big and hard to knock down, been very happy with their performance, using AR2213SC ( same as H4831) and seated 020” off the rifling, accurate and consistant.

ARcomp, H4895, Varget(of course H380) is where I would start for the 50/55 TNT in the 22-250. 2.350 coal and seat out from there. 0.010 increments. I really like H4895 for 50's, but it is hard to find.
