okay all, i aint the best speller so im sorry. well if anyone wants to pitch in i found some typing classes i can attend. hahahah

im gonna start using spell cheker from now on...........well maybe after this post i will

Robert - I certainly am not very good at spelling. Lots of us have these issues, an attempt is all we/I ask. Ultimately it all comes down (good catch Krusty) to respecting yourself. I'm sure that you have valuable things to say but it is easily lost in the jumble of spelling errors. One thing a spell checker will show you is how many errors you actually have, even worst is when the computer has absolutely no idea what you are trying to say. I have banged my head over and over trying to come up with a spelling that was close enough for the computer. Heck I've even resorted to using a dictionary from time to time. Thanks for trying and keep on plugging along.

Hi Ya’ll,
Being from New Orleans, La. I’ve had issues with spelling sense childhood. What I have to do is use MS Word and then cut and past my thoughts into the post. When I make time to do this. Otherwise I’m a 4th grader trying to write in an adult world and getting hits from all over.

Why don’t I do something more about it, I’ve coped an attitude at times of to hell with it. If they can’t understand my writing then they aren’t worth my time. Ya, I know that in itself is wrong. But being lazy I go for it anyway and get some people thinking if he can’t spell why should I have to put up with it and he hasn’t taken the time to do it right, I don’t need this either. Am I right? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Anyway Robert, Michael and you too Wishbone, for every time someone sees misspelling be assured that person could do better if they only took the time to make it so. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Good Huntin and God bless. Keep the wind in your face.

Because my spelling is horific,I shy away from words which best describe my position at times. So it takes me 5 X longer to figure out another way without those words to get my point out.Sometimes the way I structure my post,( without those words) it can be and is at times misconstrued. My public education, plus my lack of attention in class has crippled my ability in this area.
My late father who barely finished the 5th grade, had the greatest vocabulary and could spell any word if asked. His success in spelling was due to the fact that he read constantly.I have came to the conclussion that his generation was more attentative in this area for sure.He was a teen before he ever heard a radio. Later' TV was unessasary when one could read a book and use his own imagination .Read Books !!!

As I look back at my few (52) years here I have been blessed to meet some very smart folks, some were educated, some not. Some folks think within the box and some without, I am sure many brillant things have been lost through the lack of ability to express an idea in text.
However, we readers and seekers have a responsability to read thru the lines, to reach for understanding, rather than be blinded by errors of grammer or context.

dman bofire, my head hurts... hahahha. well thanks i think what u were sayin is dotn be picky just try to find the inner bueaty in all the jumbled up mess. am i right?

Heck, I skiped alot of engish classes to go hunting. Guess I should have stayed in class. I can't spell all that good, and I type with two fingers. Hell, I just asked my wife how to spell finger. I read every night, and enjoy reading very much. I wouldn't know a dangeling participle if it bit me on the a$$.
I come here to hang out with like minded people, and talk about things I like to do. If I misspell a word, or don't structure a sentence right please forgive me.
Would someone please grade my paper now. just kidding around.
Good Huntin !

Spelling errors or sentence structure has never really bothered me. I don't mind trying to figure out the puzzle and I certainly don't blame someone for being unable to spell or type. The way I see it is this is a hunting board not an English/Spelling class, and I'd rather see some kind of input rather than none because someone was afraid to post for fear of being ridiculed for their errors... As long as the person is making an attempt to get his story across no big deal!!

Robert C: The initial reason a lot of us gave Robert D. a hard time was because it was very difficult to decipher what he was trying to say. I felt I needed a secret decoder ring at times. I'm sure that Robert D. had some good stories and other things to share, but nobody would read through them because of the work involved.

using my ring i think the last statement means. "i cant see what all the fuss is about."

hahah i know u all got ur reasons and i am spellin beter know

I agree with what others have already said, this is a hunting board not Language Masters!

I am a fair speller, because my dislexia has forced me to be on top of it, and through repeated failure with words I have learned from my mistakes.

Here's my tip for the day...
If you push the control key (ctrl) and the N key at the same time... it opens a new browser window just like the one you're in...
What I do is this... I hit Ctrl+N, I type in the address bar "m-w.com" (Merriam Websters online dictionary) then I click back to the post reply page and when ever I get stuck on a word I go back to m-w and look it up.
This doesn't always work, but I find it works better that just using spellcheck. Because like MJMcC did Ultimately it all comes own to respecting yourself. sometimes you use the wrong word as opposed to misspelling a word.
I think MJMcC meant to use the word "down" and a spell checker would clear the word "own" it is a real word spelled properly.

Some Bulletin Boards are now starting to use spell checkers so it's not far away and all post reply pages will have that feature.

Robert,

You must be the only guy (other than Shotokan) who uses the chat during the day! LOL most guys don't show 'til after work... I used to have it on a bit in the day, but I got lonely! Hahaha
Here's your trick for the day... when I am in chat alone, and I don't want to just sit and look at it do nothing.... I set it to ding at me when someone shows up.

To do this, once you are in, you scroll the screen up (even just by one line) and when somebody comes in your computer will ding, then you know someone has joined the chat.
Then you can go on about surfing and not miss anyone who comes in and says "hello, hello... oh well cya". lol

Robert-I'm not sure that you have a spelling problem as much as a attention problem. I've looked over some of your posts and the right letters are there, they're just not in the right order. I'm pretty sure that you know the correct spelling of "and, it, don't, are", yet you spell them "adn, ti, dotn, aer". That's what makes reading your posts so difficult. When you mispell a word by adding or subtracting a letter or two, or spelling it phonetically
(like that hehe) we can still decipher it and know what you mean, but when you write the simple words in jumbles, it just takes way too much effort.

Sorry dude, I'd love to hear what you have to say, but it gives me a headache sometimes.

MJMcC,

I certainly did not mean to single you out, I was merely pointing out that we need to rely on the best computer technology we posses OUR OWN BRAINS! Your accidental omission of the letter D was merely an example of how that whole spellchecker thing can get away from us.

Sorry if it seemed I was poking at you in particular,

Jeff

ha ha ha ha ha ha! Okay, now that part of it is out of the way. No one minds the odd typo. It happens. My keyboard and maybe yours also has the nasty habit of dropping a letter when two in a row are hit, resulting in something like, "spel" when spell" was entered. That also happens. Many things can happen. The major thing is to make a conscious effort to get it correct, and not be cute with the language. It's difficult enough to phrase some of the questions, especially the more technical ones. I've noticed that foreigners on the board often express themselves in English (not their native language) better than we do. They make the effort, pure and simple. We should do likewise. There, the old fart is finished. Best wishes, guys.

the only thing that bothers me is when someone writes a post and like it has no beginning and no end and you are trying to read it and you can't because there is no puncutation in it anywhere and so whatever the guy or gal is trying to say gets lost in the maze of a run on sentence which is really a shame because sometimes I think that they are trying to talk about something important and I would like to know what it is and see if I can learn something or help them with their problem they are having but I nearly run out of breath trying just to read it much less understand it and I think the person who wrote it is in a real panic like they need to call the fire department or something or at least an ambulance to come give them a shot of something that will slow them down so the rest of us can understand what it is they want to say that was so important that they went to all the trouble to sign on and type it all out here for all of us to read and comment on don't you think of course there is the occaisional person that likes to use a whole lot of impressive puncutation wherever the mood and opportunity strikes them to put it because if you use lot's of "punctuation" it mean's that you pro'ly know! (lot's)about-what you is talkin' fer and has been to skool n stuff! like "that" an our better then the wrest of us linksters here at the computer where we is wastin time doin not enough hunting and fishing and stuff that are frends would be happy to do with us if we would only call and ask them but we cant call cause we are using the computer and my wife is mad cause she wants to talk to me about some sort of stuff that I dont know anything about and dont really care about and maybe if I just sit here at the computer and nod my head like I think whatever she is saying is so important to me also then maybe she will shut up and go back to fixing my dinner so I can eat watch the ballgame think about some important hunting and fishing and get to bed in time to sleep and get up tomorrow which is today now and do it all over again Im sure all of you feel just like I do which doesnt even begin to address the ISSUE of WHEN TO capi um capit er capitol Capituliz the LETTERS in your posting TO NOT YELL at no one and make them mad a BOOK SHOULD be ritten about this and we all expeshully me SHUOULD read it at least three times if not once or twice right
