Someone may be able to answer this, been looking at these on the web but I can't find anything in reference to the accuracy. I'm wondering if this would be a good critter gun out to the distance or are they a close and personal type AR,thanks for any and all input.

Which spikes are you looking at specifically ? I'd venture to say that it would do you fine within it's intended limits, a .223 is good on coyotes to about 300yds. or at least i would hold myself to that until you get comfortable with it.

Forgot to mention it is 223,I've got a mini 14 and a couple bolt guns in 223,I know it's about impossible to get a semi to shoot like a bolt but would should I expect in a group at 100yds. lso because we have the rule book here in ny is an adjustable stock the same as a telescopic stock, what a crok that is one of there assult rifle indicators along with pistol grip, screw on flash hider, bayonet mount and gernade launcher,I wish to [beeep] they would devide this state. Gotta drive 2hrs just to get to an interstate from the adirondacks.

We sell substantially more Midlength uppers of the Spike's uppers. We have the Spike's Tactical 16" M4 Profile Midlength uppers in stock at $519.95 shipped.

Spike's uppers are very nice, and a higher tier of AR manufacturer, and do run well. They have full auto M16 bolts and are HPT/MPI tested. Accuracy is always good, generally in the 1inch range with good ammo. They are not "MOA guarenteed" such as rock river, as their market is quite a bit more carbine course shooters and 3 gunners compared to hunters, although they are plenty capable uppers.

We carry the Rock River uppers for hunters primarily, and Spike's for the more tactical community.

Impossible? I just shot a .486 5 shot group with my Rock River LAR-8 and UltraMax remanufactured ammo. I've seen many 1/2 inch groups from AR's, don't be so quick to say that AR's can't keep up with a bolt gun. The carbine, tactical type of barrel may not be as accurate as longer or bull barrels, but it's not like they're minute of pie plate either. There's lots of options out there, it all depends on what you want your AR to do and look like.

Depending on the actual weapon and ammo, I have a couple of ARs that will out shoot many bolt guns...whether at 100 or 300 yards....Neither are overly expensive, if compared to a stock bolt gun (same caliber and twist rate) out of the box..(only stated to preclude someone arguing about custom or bench rifles)

I think there are several on this forum that can make similar statements and back them up....

Danny,,since you have a mini 14,,i could see where it may seem impossible,,for a semi to shoot with a bolt gun.

The AR15 is a completely different animal,,than a mini.

I have a few also,,that i wouldnt hesitate to line up against a stock bolt rifle,,or even a slightly worked one....I may not win a match,,but i wouldnt be embarrassed.

The only problem child i have here that is not a inch or less shooter at 100,,is a bone stock S&W M&P 15,,it shoots 1 1/2 "groups...so 4 out of 5 are moa or better,, a couple much better.

Well so far I'm liking what I've read. The only AR's I've shot have been in the army and nys dept of correction but that was'nt really for accuracy it was all about hitting your target. I think I'm going to like it. I reload also so I will be able to find a good bullet/powder combo.

i posted some pics of my 204 upper and a target in the photo section. it is definately as accurate as my 223 bolt action. if your gonna reload just make sure to get an ar serieas die set or a small base set. you wont be upset by accuracy unless you just get a lemon but you can do that too with a factor new bolt action too. good luck.

You will only need a small base die if your chamber is tight. I had a DPMS that had a very tight chamber and I had to use a small base die on that one. The rest of my uppers handled regular dies no problem.

Go with what you got and if you have problems with feeding, then you may need to get the small base dies.
