Spiketv, the old TNN, has decided to drop ALL of their outdoor programming. I sent them an email letting them know what I thought.

They told Mark Sosin, who has had a show for 20 years, that "men don't fish and hunt anymore". can you believe that one? I encourage everyone to tell everyone that they know about this, and to contact them. this is their homepage, if you don't believe it, check out their weekend schedule. www.spiketv.com show them just how many of us don't do any hunting and fishing anymore!

You can comment in their FEEDBACK Section w/o leaving your addy.

I guess now we'll start seeing more of the "THREE STOOGES" unless THEY are too busy running that network now! Pesonally if we can't see our hunting we should see more beer comercials or women don't you think?

Thanks for that link!
I just sent email to Spike tv
Told them the only reason I watched their channel was for the hunting and fishing shows!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I left them feedback asking them to reconsider. (even though for me watching fishing is right up there with watching golf or the grass grow. LOL!) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The heck with em. Its all in the ratings.

The Outdoor Channel is all I watch practically anyway. 24 hours of hunting, fishing, no sports or any trash. Good family network. And if fishing is on I go to OLN.

Take care.

Maybe Striperela will do good.

I sent them my $.02 worth. Won't do much good I suppose. Let's see....The Nashville Network....The New TNN....Spike TV.....anybody hear the flushing sound?

The point is that sportsmen as a group are well educated, earn above average incomes, are the true caretakers of the environment, and are highly moral and ethical people. I can't imagine that hod rod Civics or SlamBall could possibly have the long term success for networks that hunting and fishing shows produce. Loud mufflers, neon license plate frames, orientals riding tricycles, and inner city thugs jumping around on trampolines to dunk a basketball... If this is what they are banking their future on... You have got to be kidding me! Maybe our e-mails might make a difference. Who knows?

Thanks for the link. I checked it out and shure enough, no huntin or fishin! left them a note that they had just lost another household of vi ewers!

Gun controll is hitting what you aim at!!!

oh they dont have to be gay, just stupid. espn is for sports and they have outdoor shows but you dont see that slamball junk there do you? well guess another station will have to start showing star trek tng. that and outdoor shows is all that was good anyway. VX

Tommy, I wish I had the same Outdoor Channel you have. On the weekend every other show is a commercial, and now, after the first of the year they have replaced some of my favorite shows with hot rod car building type shows. I don't know what happened to Guns and Ammo TV, I haven't saw if for a couple of weeks. I am seriously considering cancelling it.
Thanks for the link, I plan on sending them my two cents also. I thought all "real" men fished and hunted. To quote my cousin,"If he doesn't hunt or fish, I don't have a Hell of a lot of use for him".

It's actually a funny statement, "Men don't hunt and fish anymore." It's kind of factual. Women and kids now do it too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif People making comments about things that they know nothing about will almost always make the wrong comment. It's just a reminder to the hunters and fishermen that we all need to continue to introduce people to the great outdoors. The more people that we educate about the outdoors will help in the future with preserving this heritage.

No big loss,as far as I'm concerned.I could care less if I ever see another bass reeled in!And as for the huntin' shows, their mostly just a big fancy add for this or that kinda camo.Personally,I don't think they portray hunting in a positive manner in the eyes of the non-hunting public.I mean, here you have sum guy who looks like he just stepped out of the Cabela's catalog with every gizmo and gadget that YOU GOTTA HAVE to get(harvest,he he) a deer, hunting the best country in the country with his new ATV,fancy 4x4 etc, passing up bucks that most of us only dream about, waiting for the monster.Cue up the suspense music in the background, dun dun dun dunKAPOW!Then a bunch a backslappin,"Great shot Billy-Bob!"blah,blahblah....They make it look too damn easy! Now here is Joe Public,non-hunter but not an anti yet, watchin this at home.Wut must he be thinkin?I'll tell you wut, cause I've heard it around the lunchroom at work, watercooler talk if you will.Alot of people who see these shows beleive that it must be fenced in,"canned" hunting.Comments like""Ooo,big Joe Hunter with his $100,000 worth of hi-tech gear shooting fenced in deer".Some of these types of things are said by "casual"hunters even, kinda guys who go to the camp one weekend of the year and never see a deer, let alone shoot one.I beleive most,if not all of these shows are done in a fair chase environment, but I live in a province with a very low deer density compared to other locales, where even seasoned good hunters may go several days without seeing a deer at times, and 95% of the hunters will shoot any legal deer, that is one with visible antlers(spikes). So I can see why some folks are kinda cynical, cause they don't relise there actually is places on this continent where you can see more deer in a day than most people see in a lifetime of hunting here.I guess my point is ,if I'm hearin' this kinda talk, how many thousands of other people have seen these shows and formed an opinion that hunting is easy, senseless, buncha rich rednex huntin in zoos.I say "good riddance" to anything that fuels the antis fires. If I wanna see a deer get shot,I'll watch it through my scope!Grinr /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Did you check out the schedule? They're broadcasting the "GQ Award" show. Give me a flippin break. Gentlemen, if that's their target audience I'm not sure they care what we think. I advised them that I would be contacting their sponsors and letting them know why I will not be buying their products. Gotta hit them in the "purse" if you want results.

Gave them my reply, now I can take them off my favorites channel list. Wondered where Buckmasters and the rest of the great shows went to. The Outdoor Channel is the reason I went to a satellite anyway.

I agree with y'all about Spike TV 100%!! It kinda illustrates what kind of trash is pushed on us daily from everywhere. I mean really-Stripperella? C'mon people! A cartoon whose main character is a sleaze-bag? I haven't seen the show but if I really wanted smut or whatever I can always go to one of my other cable channels and get real people! Haha.. No, it just seems like a channel for a bunch of horny, frustrated guys who don't/can't/won't go 'out there' and live life! It's just one more attempt to replace traditional lifestyle and values with debased morality.

NOW-having said all that I have to admit to having a chuckle or two watching Most Extreme Elimination Challenge. Otherwise I'd say dump the rest. Oh and you can bet your bottom dollar they'll be hearing from me too!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif
