SPR build optics

I'm building an SPR mainly for winter coyote hunting and as my precision AR with hopes of mid-range target shooting out to 5-600 yards. I want opinions on a scope similar to SPR specs (prefer 2.5-10x, maybe 3-9x). Also, I'm not sure if I would want FFP for that magnification range or just get a SFP and crank it up to 9x/10x to range targets? It would also need mil/mil turrets/reticle. Can't afford a Nightforce. Thanks for any help.

I would check out the Leupold Mark AR 3-9x40 with the Ill. TMR reticle. This is one of my favorite scopes. VX2 glass, mil/mil based and tracks really well.

....In fact, here's one in the classifieds at a heck of deal.

Can anyone offer their opinion of whether I would want FFP or SFP for that magnification range? I got a 4-16x in FFP for my .308, but I'm thinking I can get away with SFP on a 2.5-10x...or is it better to switch everything over to FFP/Mil/Mil? Any help from the experts?

It will mostly be for hunting, but I do want to range with it. I'm just not sure if FFP will be useful with that magnification range or just stick with SFP and range on 10x? Can't you also multiply by 2 on 5x and multiply by 4 on 2.5x? If the lower half of the mag range is too small, then it doesn't seem worth it, unless that is enough to range with? I'm just starting out using mils and ranging so bear with me.

Also, for those that do low light shooting competitions/hunting...would a fully illuminated reticle like on the Vortex Viper PST be better than the illuminated dot on the Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 TMR reticle?

The MIL system is a great system to use but if you do not want to move over the MIL then stick with MOA. Just a side note I prefer the MIL system my self.

You can do a MOA 2.5-10x44 or 32mm in the Vortex line. The Leupold MARK AR are great scope for the price.

If your range having it set at the higher power is always better you tend to be more accurate on your distance. As for FFP or SFP I tend not to like 10x and under in FFP do to the reticle getting really thin at 6x and under.
