By the way, thankfully, pictures don't have an expiration date, so if ya got 'em, post 'em.  ;)

Another old picture, but dove & whitewing nesting is about to begin in earnest is S. TX.  Last year, I opened my front door and almost stepped on 2 tiny, featherless doves huddled together on the doorstep.  There are a number of feral cats which roam the neighborhood, so I knew the little fellows odds of survival were slim to none.

Looking carefully through the large oak in front yard, I could not find the nest from which the little critters fell, but did notice a couple of doves walking around at a safe distance which appeared quite interested while I got a ladder,

wired an old Easter basket on a limb and placed the wayward birds in the basket.

Wasn't sure the parents would come back, but they did.  The wife and I Pulled up a couple of chairs to the bay window and enjoyed our daily morning coffee watching the 2 mates taking turns baby sitting and bringing food back to their offspring.
