I have an AR I built last summer it is in 243WSSM because I do not care for the 5.56/.223 why is another story. Any how when I first got the rifle put togeather and started getting it dialed in I noticed a sproong every once in a while from the recoil spring this rifle has an a2 stock with Mil Spec buffer, tube, and spring. Well lately this sprongg noise is getting a lot more noticable about 800 rounds through the rifle so far. I have read that it is pretty much a normal thing with AR's but I do not remember that from my experiance with M16's in the marine Corps thirty years ago. Heck almost forty now. Or the few times I had to Qualify with the car's in 9MM while I was a cop working entry teams.
What can I do about this? Is it a potential problem? I had a friend suggest a Pnumatic buffer where would i find such a thing? Thanks in advance for the suggestions.BTW this rifle is good for sub MOA groups at 200 YArds with my handloads, and other than the usual break in ftf's it has not given me any other problems. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you are not in a cold climate, you can grease the spring. Just remove the spring and buffer from the receiver-extension tube. Use an acid brush, or something similar, and just brush some grease on the spring and re-install it. In a cold climate, I don't think the grease would be a good idea...

I have a few customers that use the pneumatic buffer with great results. They change, or lessen the felt recoil, and the sprooooing is gone. Olympic Arms has the pneumatic buffers in stock I believe. If they don't have them, drop me a PM, I have a few of them.
