Sprongggging AR

OK I am sure I have seen this problem on differant boards before. I have built a AR in 243 WSSM it has a A2 stock and standard Mil Spec buffer and spring. I have not shot an AR type firearm since the mid 1990's and that was a 9MM M4 with a collapsing stock it did not spronngggg. As well as I can remember my Marine service waaayyyy back in the late sixties the M16 A1 did not sprongg either. why is this one doing it, and what can I do about it? I have been told I need a pnumatic Buffer instead of the spring. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Other than the anoying noise it is shooting great I am getting sub MOA @100 yards so easy it is almost getting boreing to shoot. I almost can't wait to get the rest of the parts to finish the 458 Socom I am building, I hope I do not have this problem with that one.

Spray some Remington Dry Lube in there. I actually just squirt a shot of CLP in it and the spronnnngggg goes away.. You still get a little bit of it, but not nearly as bad.

Pnuematic buffer will help but you still need the spring.
Collapsible stock will help if it bugs you that bad.
I don't mind it and you know real quick when you fire your last round. (no sproing)

When mine had the A2 stock on it the SPPRROOIINNGGG!!!! was VERY, VERY noticable. When I got my ACE Skeleton stock , during instalation, I put a really thin layer of white lithium grease on the spring and Viola' ! It tamed the SPPRROOIINNGGG! down to a nice manageable poing sound.
As a side note, I recently did my annual take-down/ inspection of the rifle and there wasn't any dirt or build-up of any kind on the spring or in the housing. Maybe I haven't been being tactical enough when using my AR. Next stand I get to I just might execute a barrel roll and come up with my barrel mounted shurefire flashlight and laser sight downrange and bumpfire a beta-mag to show I mean business/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif.

+1 for Trashcan.
I use the Lithium grease liberally on the spring and in the tube and it helps immensely

David Tubb has a spring available that I put in mine. It still has the noise, but it is a little quieter and has a more muted tone. Several guys on here have purchased them.

Flat wire spring solved my spruuunnggg issue. Don't hardly notice it at all now, and the flat wire buffer spring is only $25.

An Oly pneumatic buffer will totally eliminate the spring noise. It replaces the stock spring/buffer with a sealed unit.
My AR makes no bolt noise while cycling, but the closing force on the bolt is not nearly as strong as a spring/buffer and mine sometimes fails to chamber the first round without the use of the forward-assist. Semi-auto cycling has been 100% so far, though.
I hate that "sproinnnng". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well, I've never shot an AR without spring noise....except piston systems. Collapsible stocks are worse because your ear is right on the tube. A hydraulic buffer won't stop it because the spring still cycles.

Tubb's CS spring does run a bit quieter but you still hear it. You have to, it's the design of the rifle. The way I look at it is you either want an AR or you don't. You can't make it do something it can't do. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

The Tubbs Spring got rid of the noise in my Bushmaster. Well worth the cost. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
