Squirrel Coin Trick!!!

I can confirm that the old coin trick for squirrel absolutely DOES work. I have seen many variants with many different coins. Today, I used two pennies, i put one tails-up in the palm of my hand and dragged the rim of the other over the ridges of the building engraved in it. I did this in short bursts almost exactly like how you would rattle antlers. My yard is, for the most part, wide open except for one small fig tree in the middle, and i have a bunch of big oaks on my neighbor's yards that reach over mine. I sat at the base of the fig tree like i was turkey hunting and did the penny thing and called in and shot 4 squirrels within 5 yards of me, and i know they knew exactly where/what i was. They'd come running out of nowhere like a bat outta [beeep], like one of those mad charging yotes barreling right at you and youd have to stop em like a deer by sucking on your teeth sounding like a squirrel bark.

I have to admit, I had no idea what you were talking about. So, I grabbed two pennies and made the sounds. It sounds just like a squirrel cutting a nut. I'll have to try that the next time I'm in the woods. Thanks for posting that.

I always use 2 quarters. One held between my thumb and fore finger in both hands and rub the edges of the coin against each other. It definitely works.

Watch this video of a pet fox squirrel eating a nut. This nose sounds exactly like the pennies. It also gives us a sound to try to reproduce.

NICE. I have eradicated all the tree rats from my front and back yards and I still get green pine cones dropped on my cars from the neighboring tree rats. I can never catch them in the act. But now, I am gonna call the rodents in and take em all out.....thanks for the tip.

I gave this a go today on two separate squirrels and didn't get a reaction out of them. Guess I will have to keep trying.

How do you rub the shotgun hulls together?

I tried it on my front porch and the tree rats in the neighborstree across the street came to the edge of the tree and sat there staring at me with their beady little eyes and chattered. they never came down or across the street but they were definately interested in the source of the sound.

My Grandfather showed the coin trick when I was a little boy.

We were always too poor for coins. My dad taught me to call squirrels with 2 rocks. Bascially the same thing, just put 2 rocks in the palm of your hand and start using pressure to rub them against each other.

I tried and showed it to many family members last weekend while deer hunting. It got the squirrels to stick their heads out and chatter at me.

The sides of dimes work best for me (and they are cheaper) over quarters. Short quick burst.

I use one of those little Rubber Squirrel barkers,? They work great also.? It imitates the bark of the tree rat & they come running when they hear it.? bought it years ago,? I think from Lohman Co.
