I just moved to the beautiful state of California and I'm an avid small game hunter. I love hunting for squirrels. Can any one that lives in California help point me the areas.

big state, where you at? If you in so cal you can't hunt tree squirrel south of kern county. Plenty of rabbits and birds though. If central or north just get a 4x4 and start roaming the high sierra.

ground squirrels are around so cal just be carful of the no lead areas.

No lead only applies to ground squirrels, fur bearers, varmints, big game....Small game like Rabbits and tree squirrel are exempt, but remember even if the animal is blown apart you need to collect it and take it out of the field. If not you can be sited for waste of game.
