Stag-Arms is out of business. Feds shut it down.

the first thing that stands out to me is why would anyone start a gun making business in a place like Connecticut? winchester actually closed down just to leave the state and relocate to an area that does not hate guns. There are several other major companies that make guns located in the liberal east. I would be looking to move those plants probably to a place like wyoming. in any event its a tuff time to sell the company because the AR 15 business has kinda tanked a big after recent highs.

I never found stag stuff to be interesting at all. the guns always looked pretty plain looking with few features. Their stuff wasn't the best nor was it some of the lesser expensive stuff out there. so I don't really see where they fit in all that well.

The AR-15 market has evolved into a "kit gun" type of business. Any lower that is in spec will do because it just holds the parts together. Same for the upper and bcg. About the only thing that is special about one anymore is the quality of the barrel. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to stand out in that general market. Except for the match guys, that is.

I sure hate to hear that a firearms manufacturer let themselves get into a position like Stag has. While I've never owned a Stag Arms AR, I have shot a few and have a Stag bolt in my 6.8 SPCII carbine. The Stag AR's I've shot all functioned just fine and had decent accuracy. The Stag Bolt in my 6.8 has also worked perfectly.
I hope a buyer comes forward soon and is able to get the company back on track. This would be a good time to move the company far far away from Connecticut.

I don't know how to feel about it. No doubt the anti's in CT had something to do with it, but what are they doing having 200 unregistered lowers and an unregistered "machine gun"? Did they not see this coming? Did they not think about all their employees?

They were a good company so hopefully business continues as usual. I'm surprised they haven't developed a left-handed AR-10 upper yet though...

I agree with that totally but stag for me all their stuff just looked standard A2 type stuff for so long. pinned front sight, flat top upper with a plain old collapsible stock. Their stuff always seemed more expensive for what you got than other companies. for instance pretty much everything they sell has an m4 profile barrel on it. boring hand guards, limited options. I suppose their claim to fame is left hand oh well.

You can't fix stupid. Folks will piss and moan about Connecticut, and gun laws and anti this, and government that, but if you are driving 20mph over the speed limit with a .10bac you are gonna get dinged. Unregistered lowers and an unregistered machine gun are both illegal, what I have read the owner put on his man pants and did what needed done.

Gun owners should be pissed at this idiot, but for the most part (not necessarily here) I have heard excuses and whining.

The actual number is supposedly several thousand lowers weren't marked properly with a serial #. They were given warnings multiple times it sounds like. As in, they showed up in ~2007 and found several thousand lowers that were completely machined but weren't serialized like they should be. The ATF came back a month later and the issue hadn't been fixed. As an FFL holder, it comes across as pure negligence in the handling of their business.

That's new info to me, so if that's true, then they were just being idiots. It's one thing to be against gun control and all, but to be a manufacturer and defy the laws that blatantly is just stupid. He gets what he deserves I guess.

Prosecuting Attorney is an Obama appointee, located in anti-gun Connecticut, why would you not keep your records straight?? Why would you not straighten them up and make the items in question disappear after being warned and given time to straighten them up?
