Stainless Steel Barrel

I want to buy the rem. 700 vs sf II with stainless steel barrel.
Many of you hunt with a stainless steel barrel?

I already own 1 wood stock and 1 blued barrel.

My question is, does it give you away, bad for camo... pros and cons?

thanks

Why would you want a remy? No I am just kidding, I have a tikka t3 ss lite it has a matte type stainless barrel. If I had it to do over again I would go for the synth blued matt finish. Just one less thing you have to worry about. I dont like to have to put camo gun tape and take it off and clean all the residue off.
Hope this helps Tommy Taylor

Both my calling rifles are Tikka's with stainless matte barrels, and I haven't had a problem with them getting me busted. I find that the stainless barrels fit well when there's snow in the area.

that helps... how about the stocks remy makes in the brown/tanish color. this shouldn't hurt my camo in the woods, would it? i'm looking for somethin different then the usual i see when i go out.

heoman1,

The VSSF is a huge and heavy rifle best suited for bench and high volume varmint work from a rest.

You might consider something a bit lighter if you intend to carry this rifle much.

Here's an excellent choice.

Except for the magnum versions these actually weigh 6.25 pounds on my scales and the XCR coating is a "flatter" finish than stainless so it's less visible.
