State by state coyote hunting regulations

I know this is around here somewhere...just need pointing in the right direction. Here in PA we have 24/365 coyote hunting like most places. Was surprised that our northern neighbor NY has a "season". Got me wondering what it is like around the country...more states like PA or NY?

Recreational Shooting of PredatorsMontana statute classifies predators as coyote, weasel, (striped) skunk, and civet cat (spotted skunk). Predator shooting is not regulated by federal or state law or regulation. Predators can be shot in Montana year-round without a license by both resident and nonresident hunters. A Conservation License, or a state school trust lands recreational use license, is required to shoot predators on state school trust lands. Permission must be obtained to shoot predators on private land.

Nonresidents are required to purchase a Nonresident Trapping License to take nongame or predatory species using traps and/or snares. See the Deer, Elk and Antelope regulations below for more information about take of predatory species.

Other Considerations

Be safe! Bullets can travel a long distance. Be sure no roads, buildings or other structures are in the background. Humans, including ranchers and researchers, may be present on or near prairie dog colonies.

Be healthy! Prairie dogs are susceptible to sylvatic plague, and most are host to fleas. Don't handle prairie dogs or other nongame wildlife unless you have to.

Be courteous! Leave all gates in the manner you found them. Don't trespass, and pick up your litter including spent cartridge cases.

Be legal! You need a special State Lands recreational Use License to recreate on state school-trust property. This includes shooting of predatory and nongame wildlife.

International visitors must purchase a state Conservation license in order to bring firearms across the international border. Contact the U.S. Customs Service or the U. S. Border Patrol for more information.

If you see or suspect a poaching incident or other hunting or fishing violation, call Montana's toll-free wildlife crime hotline: 1-800-TIP-MONT ((800) 847-6668). Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for cash rewards.

Fees
Fees There are no FWP fees required to shoot predators. Nonresidents must purchase a Conservation License and a Nonresident Trapping License to take predatory animals using traps and/or snares.

Land management fees may be applicable.

Missouri Coyote Season is pretty well Year round (over 10 months long) except it is down thru Spring Turkey Season which is The whole month of April and about 1-2 weeks into May then it starts back up!

Season here. But 365 with written permission from landowner. I think it's to make the fur huggers happy.

Local CO told me he had NEVER written anyone up for killing coyotes in 25 years.

2013-2014 AZ hunting regulations: coyote seasons begin on page 82.

AZ has several seasons on coyotes that are approved annually by the AGFD Commission each April. The current statewide general season is July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 with metro units having restrictions on weapon type.

There are also daylong (24 hour days) seasons during the coyote dennng period from March 1, 2014 to May 31, 2014 in designated game management units with antelope. The daylong seasons are restricted to shotgun only and artificial light. No night vision or thermal optics.

An AZ hunting license is needed for residents and non residents to hunt coyotes.

Not sure if any changes will occur to the hunt structure when the commission meets this month to approve the 2014-2015 hunting seasons. The new hunting booklet should become available online in May 2014.

Good luck and good hunting everyone!

Arkansas coyote season is from July 1-Feb 28 for any caliber. Opens back up with Turkey season in April for shotgun only... Any legal method for turkey hunting. Then comes back in with the spring squirrel season with shotgun and rimfire.

Illinois is open 365 also. Night hunting is from mid November till mid March. The dates of the night hunting changed this year, so I'm not sure what they are exactly for 2014

Kentucky is 365 24/7 but only shotguns (no slugs) at night. And I think it's from the end of feb to the end of May is the only time lights/night vision is legal. To many people were poaching deer.

And you must have a "regular" Kansas hunting license (same one needed to hunt small game & upland birds).

Alabama regs aren't clear for public lands, but year round no bag limit, daytime only on private lands. Maybe the same for public lands.

Heard they just the lifted the hunting with suppressors ban, now all you have to do is put on a dog -n- pony show, then pay the Feds for the pleasure of doing so, to use a suppressor.

South Dakota: 24/7/365 with any valid hunting license for residents, non-resident license of any type for non-residents. Illuminated or night vision night hunting on private land only, but night hunting without vision assistance legal on public lands as well. No limit on take, no limit on caliber. Hunting on tribal lands requires a tribal permit.
