Stevens 200 22-250 replacement barrel

Hi guys,

I've heard that good barrel life from this gun is around 2000-3000 rounds. Anyone know what the typical cost to replace the barrel will be? I'm not looking for anything fancy, just another Stevens barrel would be fine although an inexpensive but decent aftermarket would be ok too.

This point is a long ways off. I'm just curious.

dtm, you can find replacement barrels on here all the time for under $150. Add a go guage and a wrench and you'll be just over $200. If I remember right you can get an A&B barrel from Midway for around $200. Depending on the accuracy you're after you might be able to get 5-6000 rds out of it before you need a tube. My uncle has a 700 22-250 with over 7000 rds down it. It still shoots less than 1.5moa. I examined the barrel and the first 7" or so is a smoothbore now but it still is good enough for him

The most rounds I ever got out of even a slow twist 22-250 was 1300. True, I do replace barrels at the first sign of trouble. If you are willing to put up with a barrel taking a long time to settle down after cleaning and blowing up an occasional bullet, you could shoot them longer.

I'd wander over to http://savageshooters.com/SavageForum/ and spend the $12.00 for a yearly membership. This allows you to see the classified section where members sell take off barrels for as little as $50.00.

I LOVE my Stevens 22-250, had it 2 years, about 100 rounds down the barrel so far. When I got it, the trigger was horrid and gritty, but a few min on Google and I had the info to fix it nice. Shoots clover leafs with WWB 45gr value pack ammo.
