I fleshed and boraxed a yote hide turned it fur in and put it over a stretcher. Question is when do you turn them couse i waited till it dried and i couldn't turn it. Do you turn it half dry or stretch it fur out?

Wait until the hide starts to feel dry to the touch, but is still soft. Turn the hide and if you use wire stretchers, make sure the front and back of the hide are not touching inside the stretcher. You can slide a stick or a small piece of cardboard inside to brace it open a little if you are concerned.

sbhooper is right on and I would add to watch it like a hawk. My experience is they dry out a lot faster than you think. I babysit mine pretty close.

You can still save it for the auction Just wrap it in wet towels and leave it there til it softens , Probably over night will do it , Then turn it and put it back on the stretcher to finish drying fur out , Don't need the towls soaking wet but just wet , Been there done that ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

After I flesh a coyote I put it on a forming board hide in and pin the ears down. I let it dry overnight in my barn where I put up fur. It is heated in there to about 55 Deg. F. I come out the next day and run my hand up and down the flesh and I like to hear a crisp sound. I also check under the front legs and it is ok if it is not that crisp under there. If you did a good job fleshing it will still dry. Then I de-board the coyote and turn the hide. It should sound like wrapping paper crinkling. After I turn the hide, I re-board the coyote and pin the ears up this time to dry the area that was covered when the ears were pinned down. I also give it one more brushing. This process works good for me and my fur buyer.

you dont need to stretch him skin side out if you use borax as long as you fleshed him well just put him on fur side out and let him dry in a place where air can irculate youl be fine. borax does wonders on stretched fur keeps leather bugs out as well it may not be needed but shure saves a guy time and makes him a little money useing it
