I have swapped barrels on a number of Savages and did one Remington for a friend. I use an action wrench and barrel nut wrench and a go gage only. There really isn't a need for a no go gage on a Savage. Just snug up on the go gage and as the barrel nut is tightened there will be two or three of thousandths of headspace will be created. If you are a bit worried about not using a no go gage, just add a couple. of layers of Scotch tape to the base of the go gage. You will feel resistance if headspace is right. Back when I was short of money (most of my life) I would convert a 7-08 to .22-250 during the summer for varmints and back to 7-08 for deer season. Haven't done it in a while

The hardest part is breaking loose the factory barrel. I don't know if Savage uses gorillas to tighten the barrel nut or if the bluing salts are the issue, but it can be tough to break then barrel loose and may be hard to break the barrel nut from the barrel. Aftel the first swap it is easy as pie.
