Sunglasses

I've been reading this forum for 6 months or more, and have learned a lot of good info, so I finally decided to join. I have ordered a RRA Predator Pursuit, and a Nikon Coyote Special scope, after reading this forum. My question is, where can you buy a pair of non-reflective sunglasses for hunting?

Sounds like a question for our resident sunglass expert... Glen Guess, where are you? LOL... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you don't need prescription glasses, you can probably buy them at Cabela's/Bass pro/ect. I know they did carry such items.
But GC's correct, we better ask someone "in the know". Oh Glenn....

I thought Oakley had some at one time, but I couldn't find on Cabelas web site that they were non reflective. Also, these would be non prescription.

Glenn would be the right person to ask, but I were just regular plain jane sunglasses and haven't had any problems. Just my .02

yep it's called WORK I sure hope the auto edit doesn't cut that word from the post being as how it's a bad word and all.

I have seen non reflective sunglasses at walmart and cabellas, but I can't wear most polarized sunglasses, they mess with my depth perception and I fall down go boom!
I just wear regular sunglasses even Turkey hunting, I can't tell that it hurts my success rate.

As for Being "Jack of all trades", well if it's outdoors I pretty much do it except spectator sports. I know nothing about any spectator sports at all except who the quarter back is. I know him cause he can make the most home runs with that orange ball if he don't trip over the bait net trying to hit it with that paddle thingy.

I've been holding out for the release of the Official Glenn Guess Do-rag and Sunglasses Combo. Rumor is you'll get a signed, limited edition photo of Wilbur the Pig if you are one of the first 500 to order.

Ok, now I am going to chime in too. I have never really used sunglasses in the outdoors much. But I have came home from an all day deer stand with strained eyes looking into the wind and having the sun glare off the shiny side of oak leaves on the forest floor. A couple of years ago, thanks mostly to thinking about Glen and his sunglasses I wore a pair of mine on a deer hunt. I knew I was going to be sitting on a high point with the cold north wind in my face all day. Also, the oak leaves have one side that has a waxy surface and the sun shines off this with a surprising amount of glare. I couldn't believe how much better I felt at the end of that day. I have since used sunglasses on a sunny day when there was snow on the ground and felt like it helped reduce the tired effect on my eyes at the end of the day. Last year on opening morning of gun deer season the sky was nearly black with dark heavy clouds and unusual 40 mph winds. I had a stand picked out down in a bottom and it was really, really, dark down in there. I wore a set of shooting glasses with the yellow lens and again, the difference in the way I could see with the glasses on and when I didn't have them on was amazing. That 40 mph head on wind didn't tear me up either. Old habits die hard, but I am learning to take better care of myself (eyes in this case) and that it can actually be a real advantage in some situations. I don't wear sunglasses all the time, but in certain situations they can be quite helpful. I've just worn my regular Native sunglass brand and haven't seen game spook form them yet. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I have often thought about what guys say about the glint off of sunglasses disturbing game. What GC said is exactly what I discovered, there are many shiney objects in the field including leaves.
My eyes were badly burned as a child so I have always worn sunglasses even as a kid.
I tired to post a picture of Wilbur in sunglasses and a do rag but my gallery is messed up for some reason.

Anyone who has hunted with me knows I wear sunglasses quite frequently. I have never had an issue of losing an animal because of wearing them...at least to my knowledge.

Heres the best deal I've ever found on some excellent Oakleys; if he has any left. I bought a pair for myself and (4) more for gifts. On The Firing Line forum.

i have a set of smiths ""Frator max"" ther about 130$ about 110$ more then i ever spent on a pair of sun shades and the best thing i ever did.. comes in a case with 4 different sets of lens clear, pol. dark, amber yellow.. every thing from fishing to shooting indoor an out side.. along with a life time on them

I have to wear prescription glasses on every stand I make and they are photo gray lenses. I have pretty big lenses and they are very dark just like sunglasses. I always wear a camo hat with a mesh face mask. My glasses have never been a problem that I know of. I have had quite a few stare-downs with bobcats and coyotes at less than 25 yards and they are looking right at my face and they don't spook. The last two seasons I have been holding a big black shiny camera in front of my face and the sound of the camera bothers them way more than them seeing the camera.
