Magellan… must mean bad customer service and company to deal with in some other language
About a little over a month ago Sportsmen’s warehouse went out of business and I decided I would give Magellan gps’s a try.. I have two garmins at the house and love them.. Dropped on in crooked creek an Erie before.. After 20 mins fishing out of the water the garmins was still on working like they never went over the side.. Well any ways I got a new in the box Triton 300.. They usually sell for about 100$ nice little hand held what got me to spend the extra $$ an go with them over the garmin was the touch screen..
So decided ok ill try it .. Even though I have trusted garmin for over 8 years.. I tock a few steps from the trusted brand I new and all ways got me out of the woods and to the spots I needed to go to.. The guy gets me the box with a new triton in it.. And he has another gps unit in the case it was a Magellan Explorist 500 nice unit marked down to 299.99 from over 330 but ok so I look at that one too.. .. Tax return was in the bank and I got some free spending cash.. They only had one left and it was there display.. So they said they would knock a few dollars off cause they didn’t have the box but all the paper work was in a bag.. Well after reading the book over this thing has tons of more things in it then my garmin has.. And the biggest thing it takes a camera chip card for more memory i.e. I can have two chips one for fishing one for hunting.. Great ill take it box it up.. I figured I would give the triton 300 to my little brother for x-mas sense I was getting two…
Well they explained to me how they are closing and no refunds no returns but all the makers had still have there one year or more on some items warranties
Well I got it home along with the other 10 bags of stuff I got it was the best day I had in a while.. Tossed it all in the back room .. Two weeks go by finally pull them both out..
Well the new in the box triton 300 didn’t even turn on.. Thinking it was me I figured the batteries are dead or low.. Tried 10 different sets of batteries and nothing worked… Just great.. ok so I go to the explorist 500.. it turns on Great woohoo.. go to the set up mode ..and it turns off.. ok again batteries.. nope I tried putting 3 different size camera cards in it and nope nothing nada… here I am great dave you went from Garmin an this is what you got…. Well I get soo upset and instead I figure ill email them see what they say.. ok I tell them about the triton and forgot to tell them about the explorist..
Well they give me a return number .. so few days later I go to ups… put both of the units in the box an ship them off.. 15$ cause it had to be insured.. don’t want some one losing the item I paid them to ship for some reason I have to pay more incase they are rejects and lose the item.. but that’s another issue for another time …
Well here I get an email from UPS 3 days later.. The address Magellan gave me is no longer there they moved.. Yep the address there people gave me less then a week ago is no longer there.. yep this is what happens when you Outsource Jobs!!! .. And they said till do there best to find there new one.. next day check and Tada thank you ups they got ther new address.. at least some one can do ther job right.. go figure the Americans go above an then some for ther customers…
Well I get an email from Magellan saying they are replacing my triton 300 Great… nothing about my explorist… hmm ok well give it a day.. so the next day still nothing.. well I sent them an email telling them I sent in two units and what they were.. Along with the letter explaining them both an were I got them from.. and no response the next day I get a letter saying that they are exchanging the explorist for a new one .. woohoo great im thinking.. well I get the email saying they shipped the triton one then another email asking me why I sent two then I emailed them back explained every thing to them.. well it takes a week of me emailing them asking about whats going and telling them if they cant email me back and exchange it sense I just got it to mail me mine back this is a week of me sending an email a day and no response.. Well they finally send an email saying they are sending my unit back to me.. no fixed mind you not exchanged either.. well Im ok for the time being getting my unit back even though its not fixed I learned that never send two items to a company.. well fine ill start over when I get my unit back..i get my triton back from them its Refurbished.. What kind of crap is that I get a new one in the store an it’s broke.. I send it to them to replaced not given some one else’s fixed one.. its even engraved RF in the back.. then I take a day and I email them again explaining how I screwed up sending two gps in and how I have my explorist 500… worth 300 dollars and im kind of suck with it its not working at all how do I got about getting it Replaced…

The best option we have for you is to participate in our trade-in program called Customer Loyalty Program wherein you can trade-in your defective unit with a brand new or reconditioned unit at a discounted price. you belave that.. the unit is still on shelves every were in store and on line.. I just paid for this thing 300$ about two months ago and here they are expecting me to pay even more for a newer unit sence they wount fix or exchange mine.. but some how they had refurbishing triton 300 to send me..
so again long lession learned ..go with GARMIN
so what do you guys think… you spend 100$ on one item and 300$ on a different one and you get a refurbished unit and then they tell you your other one your up the creek with and you can pull more money out of your pocket for another one of ther junk products..?????
