Superblackhawk

I've got a .44 mag Super blackhawk that I love to shoot, but the grips are killing my finger. The wooden grips have a sharp spot at the top where they curve. I have small hands and like a high held grip. The combination of recoil and grip hold end up hammering my middle finger between the second joint and knuckle. After 4 or 5 cylinders I about can't go on. Anybody using any aftermarket jobs that you really like?

Mine has the Pachmeyer on it... works very well. And as mentioned, the Hogue is a nice grip too... I just like the looks of the Pachmeyer because it doesn't hang down under the grip frame as much as the Hogue.

I have the same weapon, and with the Houge grip its never been an issue for me as the rubber on the grip goes down to the bottom of the trigger guard so there is nothing to hit your finger on. The only thing I will say is I shot it better with the factory grip. From advice in here, I've pretty much decided I just need to stick with one brand of ammo as they very so wildly in the amount/strength of powder in each brand.

I really need to get back into reloading again.

I ran maybe 20 rounds through mine with the factory grips before swapping over to hogue's. The factory's work ok with factory ammo, I'd lose fingers trying to shoot my handloads with them. The full rubber makes even my heavy loads pretty easy on the hands.

The SAA type grip frame is designed to be held kin of strangely. Hold the gun at your side, muzzle pointed at the floor. Initially it will want to point at your ankle. Relax your grip until it sits parallel to your leg, then retighten. This grip moves your middle finger out of the way and seems to control the recoil much more effectively for me.

I've got Pachmayr on mine as well. They make all the difference in the world. Like shooting a 22 mag....well, almost
