Suppressing Remington R-15 .223?

I was just wondering if there is anyone out there who has suppressed their Remington R-15? I currently own the Remington R-15 predator rifle with the 22 inch barrel in .223. If anyone has suppressed one of these, could they please inform me of the pros and cons of doing so to this rifle. Also, will suppressing a 22 inch barrel make the overall length of the gun a pain to deal with for hunting situations. If anyone has any input on this, I would appreciate it. Pictures are also welcome.
Thanks!

I have a suppressor for my AR-15 and I sure do like it. Will not even shoot it anymore unless it is on there. And mine has a 24" heavy barrel so the extra 6" of can does make for a long tube. This is not an issue with me as I don't ever pack the gun around as I shoot it off some sort of a bench 100% of the time.

The pro is a nice quiet gun and it will not spook the critters at all if you are a colony hunter. Big big plus right there. No earplugs either. Got to love that.

The cons? I dunno...maybe the paperwork and having to wait a few months I suppose. Whatever though, it is absolutely worth it. And not only my AR but my .204 Ruger, my .17 Remington, my .223 AI, my 22/250 and my .220 Swift are all treaded now for my HTG suppressor. Ever hear a .220 Swift that was more quiet than a .22 rifle? Mine is.

I think the are pretty spendy but if the length is an issue for you, look at the Surefire suppressors. They have a model that screws over the barrel for a couple of inches to reduce the overall length of the gun. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe shortening the barrel will make the suppressed rifle louder just as it does with an unsuppressed firearm.

They suppress 9" barrels. The longer barrel is just further from your ear so I think it appears to make less noise. Sure the pressure is less for a longer barrel but you would probably need some fancy sound equipment to tell the difference between a 16 and 20+ inch barreled AR.

I will say there is much less noise thru a bolt action rifle than an AR in the same chambering though. Huge difference there.

That may be what I've noticed then, Furhunter. I've had a number of 'rat shooters come with suppressed rifles and the 16" AR was by far the loudest. I don't recall the make of the suppressor. In fact, I had decided that if that was all I could get out of a suppressor, I really wasn't interested. After reddog showed up with his suppressed bolt rifles, I changed my mind. Darn him!

I recently received my action wrenches for cooper 21/38 actions and the Dakota Predator actions. I threaded my predator in 17fb and was amazed as to how quite that thing was while shooting it. The little Ackley Hornet was sweet too, that 20gr bullet at 3700 fps sounds like a pellet rifle!

I think a lot of the noise you hear from AR's comes from the action/gas system and that noisy recoil spring!

Yeah! Aint that annoying? Instead of pop pop pop pop it's sproing! sproing! sproing! sproing! Still, it's way more quiet than an AR without a can but like you, I prefer to shoot a bolt gun when using a suppressor. And I don't need a brass catcher either.

IMO, the biggest draw back to suppressing an AR is the fact that your action gets dirty quicker, along with the brass in the mag., do to the blow back. A minor issue that is far out weighed by all the good.

boy i would really like to put a can on my r15 but it has the triangle barrel. dont know of anyone building one for this ar yet anybody have an idea??
