Do they make recharheables for the surefire G2?

I was looking in one of my Cabelas catalogs and noticed they made rechargebles for some models but I didnt see the g2.

Those little g2's eat batteries in a hurry, and there batteries are somethin like 10$. Recahrgeables would be nice

I found some cr123a batteries on the web, 2 dozen for around $30.00, not a bad deal. Found then at pentagonlight.com. Really sweet IR illuminators for about $130.00 there as well. All I need now is an active night vision scope to go with the IR Illuminator.

I always wondered how long the rechargable cr123a batteries last? do they perform as well and as long as the disposible type. There seems to be no warning as to when the disposable ones will die, they just drop off instantly.

There would be another issue with the G2 ....... bulb life!

My first one burned out too soon ....... my run time got a little long and that was IT!

AND ...... the replacement cost ....... TWENTY BUCKS .....

$20 for a new bulb .......

$28 for the whole light ......

......... GO FIGURE!

Yeah, but you were enjoying the prestige that comes with having a "tactical" flashlight, not a normal one. I spent some time researching flashlights to mount on my gun, and ultimately came to the conclusion that a $25 Coleman LED flashlight would probably perform just as well as a $$$$ "tactical" flashlight from the usual suspects. I was right - so far the Coleman has endured being dropped all the time, left out in sub-zero temps, and being left in the on position until the AA battery wore out on countless occassions, with zero ill effects.

I think too many people fall victim to "tactical gear syndrome" and shell out way too much cash for everyday stuff. We're not talking MRI machines here, we're just talking a lamp and a battery - if you can get a handheld communicator (cell phone) for $25 it's not that big a stretch to expect to find a good flashlight for the same amount of money :)

I don't know if you guys have a Gander Mountain in your state but after reading this post I just happened to be in the store and saw Surefire flashlights behind the counter. Along with the lights I saw lots of batteries and some rechargable ones. Could have been for the G2 but maybe not. Might be worth checking out. But I did see a $34 price tag on a box that said batteries on the side.

They do make rechargeables for the G2. Expensive and don't hold a charge for long. Several places on the web have the Surefire brand CR123's for $21-$25 per dozen. Want a REALLY bright light? Do a Google search for a replacement lamp for the G2. It's called the Cree Q5 replacement lamp. 275 lumens! The Chinese version can be had on ebay for $15. It is SUPER bright. US made version will run about $45.
