I'm looking at a Swarovski 4X12 Z3 or a Nightforce SHV 3x10 x42 anyone have any real world experience with either one or an opinion?
Thank you

I have a Nightforce not that model but I really like it! Sorry I can speak about the Swarovski scope but do have their binoculars and they are top notch! I know not much help, don’t think you could go wrong either way.
Like my Swarovski 4X12 Z3. Scope is crystal clear and does all I ask of it in lowlight conditions. Considered the Nightforce SHV but wanted a scope that wasn't that heavy in the weight department to go on a Tikka t3 lite. Balances the gun very well and makes the gun very easy to carry.
I have a swaro. Once again not that model. I have a z8i. And I hate looking through it because I don't have a swaro on any of my other rifles. I don't think your going to ever beat a swarovski. I have looked through nighttforce a d they are nice. But I don't think the glass is as clear and crisp as a swarosvski
I have had both, and for my hunting purposes, I definitely prefer swarovski over nf. Swaros are lighter, clearer, sleeker and I love the simplicity of the reticles. I, personally never used the reticle as NF designed them for doping shots and measuring distances, so they were mostly clutter during target acquisition. I hope this helps.
I like the swaro for clarity and lightweight. It keeps my AR feeling light and balanced. I too prefer the simple reticles on a calling rifle. For a while I was considering the NF but I have decided on another swaro for my next build.
If you plan on “spinning turrets”, look no further than NF. Nothing dials as consistent or reliable. If you want a high quality, lightweight scope at a decent price go Swarovski. I have both, and if I had to give up one it would be the Swarovski. That NF SHV only weighs 19 oz. The Swarovski is 14.5, which is extremely light. I wouldn’t consider either of these scopes as heavy”. I just sold 2 Z3’s and 2 Z5’s and replaced them with a NF NXS, NF ATACR and two SHV’s.
Which Nightforce are you interesting in? I have both the NXS and the SHV. I cannot recommend the SHV to anyone at the price they request. The eye relief is much too critical in the 4-14x50 F1 I have. For the money, the Burris XTR II is a better value. The SHV is a fairly heavy scope if weight is a concern.
