I have never looked thru either of these scopes but was wanting to know which had the better glass?

I was going to purchase a zeiss, but had a person tell me who uses swavorski scoped that they are so much better and before I drop the coin on a scope wanted other peoples oppinion cause this is going on a coyote rifle and thats it

In the eye of the beholder.. And some favor (biased) to some brands over others... Your going to have to set behind them optics yourself...I can't see you going wrong with either brand... Need to know Objective and Power settings.. To put into the equation ...

The Swaro will have the better glass. I think most will agree. Nightforce doesnt make a 3x10 if Im not mistaken, they make a 2x10. Nightforce is much heavier built, has turrets that return to zero every time, has Zero stop option which is great, and has lots of reticle choices. Swaro not so many options but better glass IMHO.

I found a z3 for $799 and figured there was a huge quality jump fr. There z3 to z5 and then z6.

Ive never purchased a high end scope but really thinking about It for this new gun, just wanna buy once and cry once and not have any
regrets if I do decide to make this kind of purchase.

Like I have said on another post, whatever I buy will be going on a dtech 243 wssm and will be strictly a coyote gun, nothing else.
My farthest shot I would take will be 350 yrds but prefer to have them closer.

I have always wanted to treat myself to a good optic but dont know what power to get nor brand for that matter. I have always just purchased what I can afford but this time I have been saving up to get something better than what I have had in the past.

Also, I dont care about bells and whistles and adjustments, I just want a good clear quality glass for low light

I dont know about the z3, I have only looked thru the 6. I spent a lot of time and energy thinking about spending $1600 on the 2x10 Nightforce, and I just couldn't justify it for me. I dont really have a need for super accurate Turrets because I coyote hunt and use holdovers. Bushnell has a 2.5x16 but I didn't like the reticle for holdovers. Weaver makes an Extreme model(mine is 4x16)but they are very hard to find in 2x10. I ended up going with the Vortex Viper PST in 2x10. The turrets work well (even though I only use them for the initial sign in), they have Zero Stops as standard, they are build well, they have holdover reticles in both MOA and MRAD, take your choice, the reticle can be illuminated, and they have a life time transferable warranty.

I read an article a while back that said the difference in glass quality between a $500+ scope and a $1500 dollar scope is maybe 1 or 2% more light transmission. Take it for what its worth.

Thanks for the reply. I bought a vortex pst for my 458 socom and really like it, might just purchase another one and keep some money in the bank for a future coyote hunting trip

I'm no expert by any means. If I were you I would PM Venatic a moderator on here, he has almost every scope know to man and has good opinions.

On another note, what twist bbl did you order and what bullets are you planning to shoot? I ended up with a 1-12t and have been happy with the 75 Vmax.

I don't own any NF but have a number of Swaro products. Their glass is top notch but like WC stated NF are heavy and are really know for their turrets. I have several swaro scopes with br reticles and the swaro ballistics programs are great, really easy to use, and work. I recently picked up a huskemaw after shooting one on a buddy's gun. Turrets worked like a champ, really clear glass and a bit more affordable then the NF.

Nightforce is the way to go for Long Range and target shooting. I don't much care for any of the reticles for coyote or game that is small and all you may get is the South end of a North bound animal. You may want to look at Trijicon. I have a 3X9 that is on my calling rifle. It is the perfect set up for me.

For 350 yard shots I would save the money and go with something less. The only time you will notice the difference in the glass is when it's dusk or early morning. Also you are shooting coyotes so it's not a once in a lifetime shot on a 400 point elk.

I own the Nightforce 2-10 and have used the Swaro 3-10X on 3 occasions and for pure glass Swaro wins. I have had a little trouble with past models of Swaro having erratic adjustments so if I were planning to do any dialing for elevation etc then Nightforce wins. Both have fantastic Customer service from my experience with both companies in the past.
