Hey I am looking at the 3-15x42 SWFA SS scope for my .300 rum. I am wondering what are your guys thoughts on it? I like it because it is a first focal plane and the reticle is pretty easy to use. Will the glass be as good as my Leupold VX-II?

Great Scope you will be happy with the consistency of the dials. Never had them beside each other to compare. However the HD models have better glass. I have a couple 5x20x50HD models and they are awesome for the the price. If I were you I would save a little and buy that one. You will like it even better as it has nicer dials and better glass.
I will be buying another and a 3X9 in the HD model also.

I know I've heard that there is a large improvement with the HD line. IF they made a 3-15HD I would buy it no questions asked, but my question now is should i get the 3x15SS or the 3x9HD ? I like have a lower power scope because this is for an elk/deer rifle....

I can currently reach out to 500 yards and shoot 4inch groups... With the leupold VX-ii. Will I be disappointed if i don't get the HD? I just want something as good as my Leupold glass. I know that I can use it in low light.

Clarity wise the 3-15 doesn't give up anything to a VXII, but to my eye the VXII is a brighter scope. Another thing to take into consideration for low light is reticle thickness. The 3-15 reticle is twice as thick as the fine duplex on a Leupold, but being that it is FFP, it can be a little difficult to see on lower magnification.
