Switching contender from centerfire to rimfire

Just got a contender. I think it is an older one. How do I switch it from centerfire to rimfire? It looks like you need to flip the firing pin striker button( thing on the hammer) upside down. Do I just need to push out that small silver pin that is on the side of the hammer?
Thanks guys!

Theone i had you just turned it i think but I didn't keep it long I had three barrels and just didn't care for it in any of the three calibers.
I am thinking about an Encore rifle though now, 30-06 and 223 or 22-250

Thanks, that helped. One more thing though.

The gun seems a little hard to break open. Especially if the trigger was pulled and the hammer needs to be reset. There was a couple of times that i didnt think the gun was gonna open back up

Unfortunately, that's one of the characteristics of the early Contender actions. TC at one time was allowing customers with the early hard-to-open action to return them and they modified them with an easier to open latch mechanism.

I'm not sure if they still do that, but you might call them and check. I'm sure they will still probably do it for a fee, but at one time they did it as a customer service.

TC's custom shop, Fox Ridge Outfitters still offers the easy open frame conversion it includes a new trigger, trigger guard and hammer. The price in the 2005 catalog was $55.00. I thought about sending my old frame in but decided against it as any potential collector value could be affected.
