T/C Contender

Well I'm in the process of picking up a easy open older frame contender with a 22 mag and a 357 Max barrel. Both are 10". Will the 22 mag be enough for a fox or a bobcat. Or will I lose to much in the short barrel. The shots will probably be held around 50 yards if I can ever get one to come in. Would you trust it on a coyote at this range.

How would the 357 max work for coyotes. I think it would be pretty messy for on a fox or bobcats. I would hate to have it and have the chance for a cat. I would also appreciate any other feed back on the max. I will need to try it next year on the whitetails.

Also if any one has Max brass they want to part with let me know.

Nope neither will work it will be way to slow so just send me the gun with both barrels. I would hate for you to have to go through the depression when you shoot it.

I have both the 357max and 445 supermag in 14" Contender barrels and use AA 1680 and H110 or W296 in the 357max with 180 or 200gr bullets for deer sized game

you could always upgrade to either the hornet or .221 fireball, I am sure Eds TC would have either for cheap, he usually does. I have killed coon past 50yds with my .22mag so I think itll do on fox if you dont want to get more barrels, but you will, trust me!

I have a 10" bull in the hornet and its a fun barrel!
I may just for fun order a .221 from bullberry while they still have a sale, though I dont know if I want to wait another 9mos to get it LOL.

check out specialtypistols.com they will be able to answer a ton of you questions and seem to be a good bunch of contender nuts

enjoy the new gun!

Dave

Ya, I really want a 22 hornet for it but first I need to build the funds back up. The 22 mag is how the shop had it on the books and he didn't want to switch the books or I would have only picked up the 357 max for now. I guess I will have 1 barrel to many now. Bet I'll get over it

Well, I picked up the contender and the 22 mag Barrel last night. Had to leave the 357 on layaway. I must say I've aways thought a handgun that didn't ride on the hip is useless but for some reason I thought I should try one just for fun. I think I am really going to like this gun. I only have a truglo red dot to use on it right now Not great but will have to do. I got it sighted in at 50 yards and pulled off a 7/8 inch group at 50 yards using a rolled up towel as a solid rest. I have a few days off and hopefully I can get out and try to do a little calling.

I actually modified an old "western style" holster to use for mine while it had the 10" 410 barrel on it, it actually worked pretty well, although it was a bit tight, I just used it when I needed both hands to do something.

I suggest a good shoulder rig LOL.

Good luck, and enjoy the .22mag and the many more barrels to come!

Dave
