T/C Encore Bergara Barrel?

From what I've read, the T/C factory bbl in .223 is not very accurate. Ordered the Bergara .223 blued 24" 1 in 10 twist. Has anyone used the Bergara barrel? They claim it is much more accurate than the factory barrel.

I don't know much about them, but over at graybeardoutdoors.com in the TC area there are a few threads on them. Heres one for ya: http://www.go2gbo.com/forums/index.php/topic,98904.0.html

Where did you order it from? And please give a report on how it does at the range.

Sorry the link isn't working. Copy the whole link, the green letters and to the html part and paste it in another internet address bar.

I read a "post" on the campfire where a guy bought a Berga 223 barrel that had headspace issue due to the welded recoil lug being a few thousands off.

I believe he returned the barrel and bought a T/C in .223.

You read wrong. My factory barrel is accurate. Shoulda tried yours before you got another. I have tried 2 factory loads and 3 other peoples reloads and I'm convinced my 223 barrel can shoot anything I put in it accurately enough to drop a coyote no matter what ammo it is.

I would ask them a few questions before I ordered a barrel from them.

Can they prove that statement regarding accuracy ? if so how? by how much?

Did you question "the people you read about mention the inaccuracies of a factory .223 barrel" ? That is a silly statement and would be based on a very very small sampling of the product.

Accuracy is a result of several factors including
shooters ability
optics
ammo
weather conditions
rest
target
range

Apparently the good folks at Bergara assume all these things have no bearing on accuracy at all and the only factor is the barrel.

My factory barrel shoots well, but I had to work pretty hard to find a bullet/powder combo that it liked, which now limits my bullet selection options a bit more than I would like. I don't know if a custom barrel would be better or not.

I don't have an Encore Bergara barrel, but I do have 7mm-08 and 300 Win Mag Bergara barrels on my CVA Optima Elite, accuracy with handloads in the 7mm-08 has been great, tried a Rem and Federal factory 140gr in it, accuracy was acceptable at 1¼". So far with the 300 Win Mag barrel, I've only shot one factory load of Federals and a handload, both were acceptable, but need to work on the forend a bit to eliminate the vertical stringing. Not bad for out of the box accuracy I don't think.

Here's a couple range reports on the TC barrels.

t/c223encore, I don't have a factory .223 barrel. The encore was bought with the M/L barrel. Didn't mean to step on toes, but I've read that the factory barrel doesn't group as well as the after-market barrels. I don't know, that is why I asked.

The T/C barrels come in 24" with sights, and 26" w/o sights. Wouldn't the 26" be a little long for the .223?

Mine is 24" with sights, standard factory barrel. All I done to my Encore out of the box is put a scope and bipod on it, nothing more. I been shooting other peoples pet loads and they all work very well in my barrel. I wanted to see how much differece there would be, but turns out the difference is (to me) insignificant, and I suppose that really is a good thing.
