Well this will be about as informal as it gets on a rifle review, and the writing will not be superb, but I'll give it my best shot for my T/C Icon in .243
Initial Impressions.
Rifle is a touch heavier than what I thought it was going to be, but not out of the question. Weathersheild finish is nice, not glossy at all. Houge stock will take some getting used to but I think it is a very stable platform. I will not be able to paint it due to the "rubbery" texture of the stock, but it will keep me from dropping it in sub-freezing temps and snow this winter, so I think I'll grow to like it.
Very robust bolt, bigger than any other rifle I have to include my 300WSM, and very smooth. 60 degree bolt throw is very nice, would not interfere with any scope out there. Trigger is NICE, I only have one trigger better and that's a custom trigger on my 700. Breaks very clean and is fully adjustable if I ever feel the need. Which I don't think will happen.
I mounted her up with a Burris FFII 4.5-14x42 with Weaver Tactical rings, very sturdy when mounted to the integral bases. Just one less thing to go wrong.
Now on to shooting. Shooting Federal Premium .243 70gr Nosler BT's. Listed MV is 3450, but with a 24in bbl and taking off 50ft per second(cuz they never hit published speed) I would guess I was in the neighborhood of 3300fps.
When I mounted up the scope I had the guy at the shop bore sight for me, as he is always very close, and this time was no exception. He was dead on vertically and about 2in to the right. I fired two shots there, adjusted and shot 3 three round groups. I was very pleased. All are right at an inch, and they kept getting smaller the more I shot. With the last one being very close to 1/2, probably about 9/16 or so.
So all in all I am a very happy camper
The rifle
First Group
Second and Third
And this was a little fun in between shots with my AR. These were fired from the kneeling with a front rest only, at 100. Hornady 55gr SP's
